Got some kind of issue

Not sure what all.

Woke up and the red popup from the task bar said MSE was off. Restarted it fine. Tried to open the Event Viewer to see if there was a hint. Won't open. MMC problem.

Another box opened and said Windows Defender was turned off. It will not start.

MSE has shut down a couple of more times since, but will restart.

I can take screen shots with the Snipping Tool and save the files, but when I try to close it, I get 'snipping tool has stopped working ...'

Win 7 Home Premium

Malwarebytes is scanning now

MMB completed clean, nothing found.

MSE seems like it is taking longer to restart each time. Running a scan there now.

Power cycle ... shut down cold restart.

Event Viewer works now, but shows a lot of errors.

Snipping Tool closes normally.

MSE has stayed running ... so far

WinDefender (firewall) is running now.

These are the first three errors in the string, whatever they might indicate.

NisSrv at 18:something, then MSE six hours later ...

HDD going south, OR... hasn't MS moved MSE on Win7 to "unsupported" status yet? Maybe they just killed it off with an update, rather than allow users to keep running it with a false sense of security.

Time to install Linux Mint. (If you wanted Win10 and a supported OS and anti-malware solution, you would have done it already.)

Or a virus that disables services.
