Got some Energizer NiMH batteries and they are suck!

Anybody have experience with Energizer's D-cell NiMH batteries? Got some from Target with a matching charger and they suck! Basically 6 D-cells lasted 2 hours in my Skyfi 5 watt boombox at half volume. They are 2200mah batteries and I'd think they'd go for maybe 5 hours with such a low wattage stereo. I've seen 8000mah NiMHbatteries on Ebay and was thinking about getting some but they are twice as much.

2200 mAH seems incredibly low for a D Battery. There are AAs that have more capacity than that.

Yep, dude was always going off about rechargeable batteries, too. He PMed me once with arguments that NiCd batteries suck, and NiMh ones rule. Personally, I think otherwise.

I have used AA NiMH batts in my cameras for a couple years and they are awesome. They are 1800mah though. And the Ds barely have more than that. I thought it was a little low and they are light like nicads. They feel almost empty.

My Energizer AA NiMH are 1850mAH and work great. It almost seemed as though they didn't hold much of a charge the first two or three times I recharged them. Every three rotations or so, I drain them completely dead before recharging.

What could you possibly like about about NiCd?

NiMH >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NiCd.

Possibly price is cheaper for NiCd but there are some incredible deals on NiMh to make that a non-issue.

As for 2200Mah for D Cells, that is pretty weak. Perhaps they didn't get charged up fully, too. Some NiMH cells require a few charges to get peak capacity. (I wouldn't expect double run-time though, maybe a few more mins, 10-15 based on what you said).

I'd expect more runtime from them, but, boomboxes eat up batteries, so, YMMV.

Been using Nicads for 15 years and they suck compared to NiMH in high-drain devices. They also have to be replaced a lot sooner. I'll give them a couple more cycles to shape up or they go back to Target. They are $8.50 over there for 2 right now which seemed like a deal.

If you crack one of those apart you will see that it's actually a tiny cylinder in a shell that's the same diameter as a D battery. It's a joke!

11 A/h is more like it for D.
