OK I knew Rochester would have a lot of snow with the lake-effect and all, but after our mild start to winter I wasn't prepared for what went down this week! It started snowing Sunday evening and since then we haven't had more than 6 hours without any form of snow. Its coming down pretty fierce again as I type this.

My biggest gripe with the snow is the effect it has had on my car. I have a beautiful silver Accord...or had rather. Now its this ugly lump with brown frozen "crap" hanging of the sides and bumpers, and smears of salty/sandy residue all across the paint. There's also layers of permafrost on the rear decklid and roof.

Other gripes: the dirty tracks I leave whenever I walk indoors, the slushy stains on the bottom of my jeans, and the nasty cold I got after I walked to school one morning when it was -20 F.

EDIT: Current pic
Picasa2 r0x0rz BTW...never used iPhoto or the Adobe photo manager (Elements?) but this new one from Google is awesome!

Where is Churchville? I think I'm in Rochester proper...I'm right next to Mt. Hope cemetary and Strong Hospital--not really sure if that's considered Rochester or West Brighton.

If you know where Buffalo Rd is, then head west about 15 miles.

My first winter here, but I lived in several snowy climes. Get good tires ;)

I believe they had something over 100 inches last January (I think). Don't hold me to that though.

The real character builder in Canada was watching a 35,000 dollar car become a rusted hulk in five years! Buffalo just may have the same character building ways.

Buffalo and Rochester and all along the southeast side of the lake have that lovely tendency to rust the crap out of everything. Far as snow goes there was a place last year that got 12 feet of snow over a couple days. They closed the schools for that one :D

I lived in a cold part of VT for a few years. Once it hit -55 with no wind chill. I was out splitting kindling and my eyes froze shut. Not a fun time, but I can tell you that when an axe hits wood at that temp, it's impressive. Just like shattering glass.

Sorry, but if I live in California, and I have more snow than you, you really can't be complaining too much... :D

Snow

actually, the only thing bigger than the snow falling around here, is the rocks nearly falling on my a$$...These two rocks were a little too close for comfort...
