Well it was my fault.. I would have smoked him if I didnt shift so late in the rev range. In first I went to 8000 rpms and in second I went up to 9000.. and by the time i shifted to 3rd it hit me that i was doing a highly illegal 80+ in a 40 mph zone.
When I realised that I backed off and let him get ahead of me.. but until then I was keeping up quite well.
The thing was that I just realised my mistake.. (okay racing on the streets is bad - but he initated it, I was riding normally until then), I shifted late, should have shifted by the time I was in 7000 rpms to get into the power band..
Luckily my brains took over my thought process and slowed down. Though it was only a 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile ride.. i still think I could have smoked him if I didnt have this huge weight on me.. the fact that I have no tickets and no accidents.. and that I want to keep it that way..

Anyway hopefully a rejet, a new airfilter and a oil change will give me back my power. After all I wont be doign this next time around.. but if the situation arises I can take appropriate action.

This happened yesterday and I am sort of pinching myself for it. I could have beaten him had I shifted right in the powerzone. I would have still beaten him if I didnt have speed limits, cause once i had gone up the gears I would have been out of there. I let him win once i realised i was doing 80 in a 40 in 3rd gear.. had i pushed it I would have been over 100 in a couple of seconds.

I know its stupid.. but I was tired, hungry and in a pretty pissed off mood.

Yup, that would have been the bright thing to do. I have no doubt that you could have taken an Accord; bikes are usually faster, especially than econoboxes.

edit: It also explains the RPMs. I was wondering how you got a S2000 up to 9000RPM :)

If you had a proper motorbike(;)) then no V6 will be able to smoke you, my old Suzuki GSXR600 did 0-100km/h in about 4 seconds. Not many cars can keep up with that, and also rev up to 11.5 -12 thousand revs.

You are young, but you will learn..:D
