Got second monitor today can't get it to work

I'm having some trouble getting my second monitor to work that I got today. I'm trying to run them with dual 7900gts, a 2405 and a vx2025 the vx is the one I just got today. When I got my 2405 a few months ago I had this same problem but it seemed to fix it self or I did something but don't know what. My monitor would only come on if I plug it into the first video card and the first hookup on that video card it won't come on if I try the second hookup or the second video card. This isn't normal is it? Like my 2405 was when I first got it the vx2025 won't come on at all no matter which card/connection I plug it into. What am I missing? It comes on says no signal then turns off. Hope this made a little bit of sense.
 
If I am not mistaken..both monitors should be hooked up to the same video card. Go into nvidia properties and enable the second monitor.
 
Use the 2nd hookup on the primary card.

Right click your desktop > go to Properties > Settings > click the drop down under "Display:" > go to #2 > check the box that says "Extend my Windows desktop to this monitor."

That should work.
 
I did what the last post said and now I can't use my computer. I guess what happen is it worked but since my second monitor isn't working still all the programs I open up, opened on the invisible screen so I can't actually do anything. Now when I turn the computer on the screen is grey with a black box in the center. I can see only the start menu and the little icons on the bottom left by the clock nothing else. The only thing that will open up where I can see the Run box you go to from start menu. Is there anyway to reset it since I can't actually see anything? Oh yeah if I plug my second monitor into the first connect thing it now says out of range and if I plug it into the second one it says no signal.
 
plug them both in to 1 video card restart and then right click the desktop>properties>Settings> and then just click on 2 and select extened my desktop on this monitor. But you should Have the VX as your primary.
 
So I have to disable sli in order for it to work? I went into bios and set it as 1 video card it's now back to normal so what exactly do I have to do in order to get both monitors to work.
 
Yes I only connected the vx and it says no signal. Like I said in the first post my 2405 did the same thing when I first got it not sure why it started working.
