It might not go as fast but its WAY more fun. It will still cruise at highway speeds without much fun, 120 is out of the question though.
It you ever get a chance to ride a well set up Sumo jump at the chance, you will be wanting to by one!!!

Shweet...

You said it can cruise at highway speeds, but how comfortable is it on the highway?

Wind blast is pretty bad, its a dirtbike after all. For a 10 mile run it would be fine, your not going to want to run 100 miles on it though, you would be dog tired.

A dirt bike with street tires and no front fender? So you get sand blasted until you fall down?

There is a fender on the front, its just a shorty and black so it blends in with the pictures.

Guess its one of those things you have to ride to understand.

I wasn't ragging on your bike, it looks like a ton of fun, I just thought dirt bikes ran tires that were a little more aggressive.

Nice forks! Like the powercoated frame/swingarm too. Those 650s are pretty strong.
Supermoto is really the best way to ride, so much fun. Sportbikes are boring.
I rock the KTMs...

I was actually curious what he'd sell that bike for. I was betting around $4,000 but you ended up trading before he got that low.

I sold this one for $3,800
More motor focused with hi comp piston/stg1 cam/carb/full exhaust/cdi/so on

Street Legal KTM 380 2T I replaced it with and eventually sold

Yeah i was just kinda done with the sport bike. Its stupid on the street and terrible on your back and wrists.

He seemed happy with the trade as was I, so i think it all worked out. I can tell you that he has A LOT more money into that motard than i had into my 675 for sure. The front end is obviously very well sorted and if i few a couple of bucks into the rear i am sure it would rail.

Did you get a big HP improvement out of the motor mods?

You're lucky in that this bike has a lot of information online for it and it's own subforum over at thumpertalk. Stock the bike makes mid to hi 30s for HP and is rather restricted. Most owners who do any mods do the basic intake/carb/exhaust mods to unrestrict them. Doing this will push HP to low 40s which is probably where your bike is at assuming nothing but "uncorking" and the aftermarket exhaust. If you add a stage1 cam, hi comp piston, aftermarket carb, intake mods you'll be up to low 50s. Then if you ever have to rebuild the engine while you own it, the cost of a 680 BB kit is almost the same as the stock rebuild and this will get you another 4-5hp.

The carb is one of the better mods to do, switching it out to a flatside pumper. You don't gain much for hp/tq but the throttle response and attitude of the bike changes completely.
