I just got rejected for the $10.00 rebate that printed out with my receipt at Best Buy. The reason for rejection was 'purchase was made outside of the qualifying period.' I have copies showing that I purchased the item on the last date of the rebate..

Damn.. I hate how rebate companies just reject a certain percentage of them hoping that people don't keep records. Now I have to blow another 37-cent stamp and waste some more of my time sending proof that my original rebate request was valid.

There's something I think we Anandtechers (in our numbers) can do to hold companies that abuse rebates (Best Buy) accountable. I'm gonna try and plan something for Black Friday. I'll post details later when I have a plan going. But, I'm pretty sure I have a way to prove that companies reject valid rebates in order to increase profits illegally that will hold up in a court of law.

I had that happen with a Turbotax rebate. I would like to know how my purchase wasn't made in the qualifying period (basically before 4/15) if I used it to do my taxes for that year. Man was that e-mail I sent nasty! (and yes I got my rebate)

I hate dealing with rebates. Asshole companies know that 80% of the people out there will not hassle with a $10 rebate, and they walk away scott free. Only when you raise a fit will they send it to you no questions asked. Bastards.

most of my rebates came in althought it did take some times to arrive. actually the recent soyo K7VME rebate was the first one that made me send an email to 'speed up the process'.

for my wireless G router+card bundle, I used 2 rebates to drop it down to $15 total. One of the rebate's fine print mentioned "copy" so that's what I also used... good deal.

I was about to get a $20 rebate on Pinnacle Studio 9 and I was all happy cuz I needed the cash, and then it said "Only if you're upgrading and can send us your UPC from the previous version." To hell with Circuit City for not putting the terms of the rebate in the ad that day!

I just got rejected for a $5.00 Product Review Bonus from Price Grabber. After jumping through all their hoops to get the stinking $5.00, they rejected it because I didn't include a UPC. I have no doubt most people would have dropped it at this point... BUT NOT ME! I phoned and had to leave a message, which meant it was all over in my mind. I'll be damned if a nice girl, named Pam, didn't ring me back 10 minutes later and offer to make good on the bonus anyway. The reason I hadn't included a UPC was because there wasn't any. It was a refurb, which Pam said would no longer be included in these bonus offers.

Man, I thought sure they were just going to dick me around, and wear me down. God knows even I wouldn't have bothered with it after that last call. Got lucky and certainly earned that f*cking five bucks!

Ive received all my rebates just fine except when I send rebates to the Express Group rebate processing company. They've screwed me twice so far saying my submissions were repeatedly 'lost' in the mail. A $70 printer rebate and a $50 speaker rebate so far.

i got screwed by expressgroup too. I think they handle ALL of office depots rebates, so I'm wary when I shop there now. However, I took up the problem with OD directly and they sent me a gift card for the amount. I've done this with BB, cc, and now OD. nice but ymmv of course.

lesson learned tho, now I keep copies of EVERYTHING until I get my rebate.

I had a rebate for a Umax scanner come in so long after, not only did I not remember why Umax was sending me $50 (I thought it was some class action deal...), but I no longer had the scanner. (it sucked.)

I bought the printer from OD, but I bought my speakers from Dell (logitech Z-2200).

i have NEVER sent in a rebate

you're missing out on big headaches over chump change.

Fix'ified.

Indeed.

I used to do rebates all the time... then I got burned for around $200 and they basically said screw you. It's not worth it anymore... I've reached a point in my life where my time is more valuable than that.

You got burned out of $200? No way that would fly with me.
