this is the kinda stuff i'm worried about

If you can convince the judge that you pulled off the highway for safety reasons, he'll probably drop the reckless driving charge. More likely though, he'll think you're B.S.ing him. Honestly, I don't even really believe you.

I was bringing up the contradiction between his statement (bold) and the topic. ;)

question - how'd the cop get you if you pulled off the freeway? did you stop right at the exit and wait for him or did he see you there and pull off before going past you? I always thought if there was a decent amount of traffic and distance between the cop and you that he might lose you.

big e-talker about running.

You might be able to outrun the cop, but you can't outrun his radio.

and plus my car has a custom license plate, chances are one of the two policemen in the car would remember it.

this was on the way to the Dave Matthews Concert, which rocked.

what a d!ck cop. how old are speed limit signs anyway? they've been out so long and so many generations of cars has comes out and the speed limit we're using is still in the 50s.

well cops are cops, they need to give ticket to keep their jobs.

Based on? It is quite possible the cop thought vshah was trying to run or get lost in traffic. What did he do that made him a dick?

how old are speed limit signs anyway?

What does that matter? Pointless pontificating?

they've been out so long

The speed limit has changed quite a bit in the 90's and 00's. Maybe you are just drunk?

and so many generations of cars has comes out

And this is relevant how? Congested areas or urban areas have lower limits. More traffic, more trucks, and less room.

and the speed limit we're using is still in the 50s.

No it isn't. Most states have limits well over 55, but typically lower the limit in Urban areas. Learn history.

well cops are cops, they need to give ticket to keep their jobs.

What are you basing this on? Want to show me an employment contract, Public Safety Office, or even anything to back this up? It is a common myth that police officers need to meet a "quota" to not get their "boss" pissed of at them. If anything most officers despise giving tickets, and I'm not aware of ANY place minus small towns that even attempt to use Traffic Citation for revenue. If they really wanted revenue they'd start busting people for little infractions that don't involve traffic and carry much higher fines.

vshah has the right to see the judge or prosecutor and try to get the charges reduced, dropped, or try to get driving school or the points reduced. It would be prudent for him to do so instead of just paying the ticket. However, that doesn't mean that dumbfvcks like yourself won't spread their usual myopic stupidity concerning this topic. What does it feel like to have your ass handed to you?

Mill covered it as well as I ever could, but that's entirely untrue. You *might* be able to use that logic against Highway Patrol and not be laughed out of the room, but city police spend most of their (read: our) time responding to calls for service. County spends time patrolling small towns & areas outside the city where, sure they'll write tickets, but again it's a more service-oriented job. Many county SOs also run the jails.

BTW, I'm not going to deny there are some crappy officers out there. I've had experiences with good and with the bad. Nothing in vshah's post supported your blanket statements though.

yeah just right a letter to the judge stating you'll be out of the country and that you need to reschedule the hearing till then. I did the same thing when I got a ticket and was on vacation when the hearing was supposed to be (which worked out well cop forgot to show up!)

I got pulled over on the 3rd, trooper claimed I was doing 83 in a 70mph zone. Granted, I will not deny I was speeding, as I was going 75mph. Me and the passenger I was with both saw the trooper about half a mile down the road where he had someone else pulled over, and we both checked my speed at the same time. My passenger saw that I was going 75, and we were doing 70 with just the slighest tap of the brake. Anyone have any idea how far of a distance the radar is good for? Also, when I ask to see the radar, he said I was free to look at it, but my speed was not locked in. Will I fight it? Doubt it, probably just send them the $145 in the mail and not worry about it.

If it was in Fairfax County, you are screwed.
A co- worker from Japan got pulled for doing 90 in 55 got reckess driving summons. He had to spend 1 day in Jail. They were going to suspend his license too but when they saw it was international license they just let him sit in the clink for the day.
