If you can afford a Saab, you can afford to pay your ticket.

If you can afford a Saab, you can afford to pay your insurance.

If you can not afford to pay your ticket or your insurance, then sell your status statement saab.

Whats up with the Saab haters? Its just a car.....

Indeed. Friend has Saab 9-3 turbo and it's quite nice!
I hear they are BMW level cars in Europe?

Oh yeah. Its da bomb. I get 36 MPG highway. Its nicer than a BMW. Its basically a 3x series BMW without everyone thinking I'm an A-hole by buying a BMW to let everyone know I bought a BMW.

I'll go into details with the Lawyer. But I was going 3 miles over limit and total BS ticket. If I don't win, my insurance soar like eagle.

So you WERE speeding, but blame the cop for doing his job.

And then you admit it on a big public online forum.

Awesome.

I got pulled over for going 72 mph on a 70mph highway. That made me mad. I was getting passed all the time too.

There is much much more to this story than is given. My guess is the cop pulled him over for some other reason, what was that? Then either (A) was being nice not giving him a more serious ticket, or (B) wrongfully pulled him over on the original reason and gave him the 3mph over ticket instead. If (A) then he should just suck it up, if (B) then fight it.

I usually like bitching about my state, but one good thing is we have some of the most lenient cops when it comes to speeding tickets. Couple weeks ago I was doing 75 in a 55 along the interstate at 3am, passed right by a state sheriff holding his radar gun directly at me. Was very lucky there :D

Does radar always give the exact speed of the vehicle? Nope. If you are not directly in front the speed will be off, but it is always off in favor of the driver. The greater the angle the greater the difference in favor of the driver. Of course, this is assuming the radar is being operated correctly. Here, if your caught your caught. Get a lawyer and the DA will reduce it 99% of the time but going to court and saying the equipment or officer was wrong will get you no where. We have one of the most stringent training and usage standards in the country. But some states simply stick a radar in car and say go get 'em. I typically won't stop anyone for less than 15 over unless something else is going on or it's in a school zone.

or it's a holiday or it's a speed trap or if their quota isn't met or if the city needs money for potholes or any other excuse to do something other than catch real criminals

I agree a 3MPH ticket is BS, but do you have any idea the amount of "real" criminals are caught on traffic stops? A crowd of them.

the 1st time I took the drivers test I didn't pay attention and was going 37 in a 35 about a minute into the test. The instructor failed me right there and the test was over. It's not hard to not speed, and even 3 mph's speeding.

my insurance soar like eagle.

You from Quincy? :D

The MA nazi, er state police are known for busting people for whatever they like. I was ticketed for 15 over the limit on my Hayabusa. The only problem is that traffic was locked up so everyone was moving at the same speed, and none of us could have gone that fast if we wanted. The judge wasn't interested in the facts though. She upheld convictions of people who were ticked for having unapproved helmets when the staties decided to shut down a charity ride for a firefighter who lost his life in the course of duty. Now one might say that regardless of the circumstances that breaking the law is breaking the law. That would be true, however there were a hundred plus firefighters in the court room fighting the charges, helmets in hand. The judge said "How do I know those are the helmets you wore?" as if they all went out and bought beat up old approved ones. In essence she told them that if they were accused they were guilty.

I suggest paying the ticket.

3 MPH over?? That's just weak sauce right there. That kind of crap makes me more and more annoyed with the cops.

We still don't have details of WHERE this was and the circumstances though. Was it a 25 MPH school zone at 3pm on a weekday? Was it 65 MPH freeway at 11am? People speed like wild banshees around here all the time. During the day I basically drive as fast as traffic will allow me. As long as you don't switch lanes and drive like you are playing pole position, you are fine around here. Just go 72 in a 65 and they won't even look at you. It helps to drive a 4 cyl, grey Altima too and not a bright red sports car.

Unfortunately, I live in an area with cops that don't have too much to do besides stop people for speeding. I used to do what you described until I got pulled over.

True - yet there may be more to this than the OP is releasing.

Such would shed a different light and not gander as much sympathy.

Most cops arn't bad people, so treat them with a little respect and they may let you off on most things. They also have a hard job so throwing in a little sympathy can't hurt.
