Percocet makes me vomit and get very itchy. I believe I might be mildly allergic to it.

I am prescribed Vicodin HP (high potency) for my tendonitis in my hands/arms. The pain gets very severe and believe me, I don't WANT to take the pills, but if I don't, I'd go nuts over the pain. Even after taking one, I'm still in intense pain.

I hate painkillers because of my need for them. All you people that use them for fun should really think about why they exist in the first place. Go smoke some pot instead - it's cheaper and safer ;)

Don't worry. The bottle hasn't been opened.

I got Percocet for my kidney stones last week, and oxycotton for my collar bone back in May. I ended up taking the oxy because the percocet was doing nothing for the pain.

Hey speaking of percocets, just tonight I found a large bottle of them dating back to my back surgery in June of 2000.

Obviously they've been expired for years. Would these things be safe to take at this point?

Did you take a couple of them right before you tried to return your TV to Best Buy?

Of course, I still have 2 large bottles of oxycontin left over from my knee surgery in 04...don't like the dammed things...won't take them unless I absolutely can't tolerate the pain...and I have a high pain threshhold...

How'd you manage to get two bottles? Prescription error or intentional? They're dangerous and I'm surprised they gave them to you in such large quantities.

Good orthopedic surgeon...;)

His opinion is that if you're in any pain at all, it slows down the healing and rehab process. So, every time I'd visit, he wrote another prescription. Sent me home after the surgery with a script for 2 LARGE bottles...that I took for the first week or 2 than stopped taking them.

My pain management doc for my back keeps offering me all kinds of "good stuff" (vicodan which I"m allergic to, oxy, valium, etc.) that I refuse. He's accused me of being "noble" for not wanting to take the dammed pills, but I told him that I'm in school full time, and at my age, I'm stupid enough naturally, I don't need the chemical help...;)

I guess it works differently for different people. For my back I took vicodin, it just made me feel happy. Then we tried morphine, it made me dizzy and my backs till hurt. Then we switched to oxycodone (the active ingredient in Percocet/Oxycontin) and it certainly helps for me. It does make me itchy sometimes, but 2 naproxens and a 10mg oxycontin get me through the day sometimes.

I got a bottle after surgery, but never used it, just threw them away. Personally I have never used a pain medication in my life and hopefully will never have to. Getting addicted to a pain killer is alot worse than having a little pain now and then. Also I know alot of people who do sports and just pop painkillers as they play and that really seems like the wrong way to go about it, your not making yourself less injured by taking drugs, your just making yourself not realise it until you go and injure yourself even worse.
