Got PCI Express??

ATI's TV Wonder 550 has a few models available for PCI-E 1x slots.

Also, most GBe adapters are PCI-E 1x - largely because WAY too much data travels over them for a regular PCI bus to be able to handle it (IE., the bus would be a bottleneck).

And Matrox also re-released one of their cards (G550) in a PCI-E 1x format. No real use for 3d acceleration, but it IS dual-DVI, which is kinda cool.

I think that there are some NICs that use PCI-E, aren't there?

Yes there are. There are also USB and Firewire cards that plug into PCI-E x1 slots.

There are also hdd controller cards that fit into x1, x4, and x8 slots.

what u gotta do is get the 16x vid card and break or saw off the extra contacts, that will make it compatible with any NIC on the market
