Got out of PC Building/fixit myself this past year or so. I so don't miss it.

I stopped building PCs since the 8700K days. In fact, I haven't turned on my main PC since june 2023. Thats when I got my ASUS Ally. I PC game on that and on my gaming laptop. For all other gaming I use my PS5. I use the laptop for work and gaming. Just makes no sense spending 600-1500 on a GPU to squeeze a little more FPS and ultra settings/ray tracing nonsense.

I was like that for several years when I was mostly married to consoles for gaming. Hardly turned on the PC and just used laptop for internet browsing.

Then Ian's i7-5775C article got me on Aliexpress to acquire that and after that, I bought 12700K after winning a lottery. Don't regret it. Tinkering, tweaking and overclocking is a fun hobby.

I have a work laptop but I use a tablet for all my personal computing. I have a personal laptop but I hardly ever use it. Stopped building PCs years ago. I am the IT guy at home though for all our technology/network devices including my wife’s laptop. I have upgraded her OS once already and wiped it once or twice due to malware. Her old laptop is my laptop, it had a tendency to restart for no reason periodically so we got her a Lenovo, which has been pretty solid. I put an SSD in her old laptop and loaded Windows 11 on it and haven’t had any trouble with it since, I blame Toshiba bloatware for the problems.

But their laptops are nice with good keyboards. I mistakenly sold a great Nehalem era Toshiba Tecra laptop to a lady out of "friendliness". When I started missing it after a week or two, I requested her to sell it back to me for a higher price than she paid me. She refused and even gradually cut off all relations with me afterwards.

"I would never associate with a woman whose standards are so low that she'd associate with me!"
Man, when 1 out of 100 women look at you and don't immediately behave like they seen an animal that escaped a zoo, what would you do? :p
