Kind of weird, I know, but the thing just falls asleep after about 10 minutes. I have to unplug it from the USB port, then plug it back in. Any ideas?

Uh oh. I tried to install some other drivers (like Dizihammer or something like that), and it killed all of the USB ability in Windows. The intellipoint software complains about missing files. That's not good.

:sigh:

Off I go to reinstall Windows XP

Well, plugging it into the back of my computer, along with reinstalling XP seems to have worked. Maybe this thread will help someone.

The moral:

If you have a hub, do not plug!

You did not mention in your original post it was plugged into a hub. You still haven't said whether it was a powered hub.

I'm quessing it was unpowered or just not capable of delivering the bandwidth necessary for a complex device like the X45.

Some hubs simply divide up the bandwidth among the devices plugged in, better ones supply the full spec to all devices.

Yeah, I didn't think that it would matter that it was plugged into a hub, but I guess it does. The hub is powered, but it's a Walmart hub, so I don't expect much from it.
