Got new ram, pc runs like !@#$!!

help! I just upgraded from 1gb to 4gb of ram, and literally my pc runs 10x slower. IT IS RUNNING LIKE CRAP NOW, and literally takes 5 mins just to refresh the desktop.

Also my mobo supports upto 8gb so thats fine. How do i fix this?
 
Have you updated your BIOS at all? Some mobos had cache bugs where they mistakenly disabled the CPU cache if there was too much memory installed. Recent BIOSes should have this problem fixed.
