Got new kitchen table set, is it safe for me to put directly on my hardwood floor?

I have hardwood flooring in my kitchen. I just bought a solid oak Broyhill kitchen table set. The table doesn't have any kind of protection on the bottom of the legs, so I am going to put felt made for furniture on the bottom. The chairs have little half inch plastic spheres on the bottoms of the legs... Should I take those off and put felt on the chair legs also, or is that little plastic nub enough?

What is the flooring really? Not all 'hard' woods are really that hard.

I'd put a rug down as even with 'nubs' you will get some denting over time.

Plastic is still likely to scratch. Your best bet is to buy small felt-like plugs to put on the bottom of the chairs, and some bigger pieces to put under the table legs. They sell some kits like this in most stores like target, walmart, etc. (Probably a better selection at home depot and lowes, though.)

Ideally, you should replace them yearly because sliding chairs in and out can wear the pads out, and it would suck to have it wear all the way through and someone slide on it without knowing it.
