OK, this is bizarre. The Eclipse deck in my car died last month so I had it sent in for repair. They sent me a brand new deck as a replacement and the shop installed it last Saturday. Since then I've killed *two* batteries. One on Thursday morning (a brand new Optima Red Top) and again this evening (original battery that came with the car)

My question is, could they have screwed up the reinstall somehow to cause this? I did notice both on Thursday, and again just now, that the negative battery terminal was somewhat loose. I thought I had tightened it up when I replaced the battery but I guess not. Would that cause the battery to go dead? The car was just fine before the deck reinstall.

Dammit, that's what I thought. Is there anything I can do to fix it temporarily until the shop can look at it?

When I saw the thread title, I was thinking about a porch type deck with a grill and stuff. :) I'd also say bad ground. You can remove the deck. You should also request that the shop reimburse you for the batteries if it was their fault.

Obvious and hopefully releveant fix would be to unplug the deck; possibly an easy solution would be to remove the stereo fuse.
