Just some general observations...
Noticed two things recently...

First, seems like lots of new users to AT forums. I tend to "welcome" people and there's been a lot lately. I guess that's good... if they stick around. Some are posting here the first time because they have a problem they need help with. Don't know if they intend to stay after the problem is resolved, but I do try to make them feel welcome.

Second, there's also been a lot of people who ask some question and then get all disgruntled (and reply in that manner) if their question doesn't have a reply in the same day, let alone by the next hour.

Here's an example but the guy was nice about it saying he "appreciated..."

Here's an example of a guy that barely waited 15 minutes, but he apologized. 😛

Just some observations, that's all...

I'm very new around here. I'm also probably quite a bit older than most who post and I'm not all that used to forums in general. What I mean by that is that it's not like I grew up with forums and blogs and whatnot. As a result, I'm still trying to get the feel of alot of things. It all comes back to a line from the movie "Cool Hand Luke" where the guy says...

What we have here, is a failure to communicate! 😎

In this thread, the guy asks for advice on whether or not his power supply will pull a given load. We basically tell him it's a borderline case and he responds by saying if his new video card pulls too much juice, he'll rMA it to www.newegg.com

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=27&threadid=1832969&enterthread=y

I respond by telling him that there's nothing wrong with the card and that it takes more power to run the more capable card these days and he responds by saying I'm defending the card! Defending the card? Apparently I'm not doing a very good job there.

Then here's a thread where the kids are guessing all over the place and I suppose I haven't communicated all that well on it either. I'm not saying having the diagnosis IS what's needed, but it sure would reduce the guessing game! Maybe someone can tell me where I went wrong?...

while it may seem impatient to some, i know what it is like to have an issue on a brand new 'dream machine' and being so excited to get it running that i hit refresh a few times and check back every few minutes. i feel more sorry for the kid waiting for a reply than the ppl who think they expect to much (That sounded harsh... did intend it to, but thru this limited medium it comes out that way)

As long as ppl aren't mean and nasty, and they are not trolling or scamming... it is really no biggie that they are impatient to get help with a problem that seems monumental to them.

whats the problem in the first thread? he said he'd return the card if his psu couldn't handle it. so what, thats his perogative. wouldn't be my resolution, but whatever. if he wants to pay the restocking fee thats his money.

as for the second example, if you enter one of my threads and throw a dig at me in the second post you'll be ignored at best or flamed at worst. it appears OP took the high road and rightly ignored you.

there was a guy here when i joined and i can't remember his name. very knowledgeable guy, particularly in networking. problem was, he was such an ass most of his knowledge went wasted. point is, there are too many good members here willing to offer advice in an appropriate manner to listen to jackasses.

i bet you'll say you were trying to be humorous and all, like when you tell people they have pea brains. but imo, you come across like an ass alot of the time.

actually that was a bit harsh but I can see your point.

Sometimes people come accross badly becuase when they post an answer to a question they post in such a way that anybody else who also tries to help seems to be immediately wrong.

Also some people are so caught up in the very brand of PSU or other things that they make things sound as if there brand is the ONLY good brand on the market!!

Uh hu...classic fanboyism.

And the frustrating part is that not only does it say in the power supply sticky that seemed to be important enough to stick up at the top of the general forum say it, but I say over and over go for the specs... to the degree you can get them and the harder a power supply maker has their site setup to get complete specs, the less you should trust them.

As I recall, the only pea sized brain I ever spoke of was my own! Twisting what I've said is another odd thing these forum people do. I guess it's all supposed to make me shy of posting, but it won't.

Luckyboy1,

i figured immediately that you were kidding. but can fully see how others would not. Emoticons are really important around here.

583 posts in 22 days... maybe less posting and more seeing how things go around here is not a bad idea.

frankly i don't care if you post here or not. you asked where you went wrong and i told you, "imo".

i also don't twist words. this is just one example from the very stickified PSU thread you mention. there are others but i don't need to pull any more to show that i'm not twisting your words.

Sorry guys, but you can't turn off your pea sized brain and just order by brand.
anyway, i wasn't trying to be harsh. you asked and i answered.

I took it that way too.

I know I am not one to talk but I listen too people more who have a few thousand posts than some people who have say a few hundred.

I listen to peeps like Zepper or Zap or others who have a track record of giving out sound advice without actively saying that the products they use are the best.

No rise, right you are here.

I thought I had reserved the pea sized comments for my own brain, but apparently not that time. For pointing it out I truly thank you as a friend because a friend tells a friend when he's behaving badly and obviously, I could have done much better there. In fact, I'm going to spend the next couple of days going over what I've already posted and see what else I've done wrong.

Truly thanks,

Luckyboy

Well Luckyboy 1 what you are doing now is gently referred to as hijacking this tread,
which is bad manners.

If you want to do some cleansing, then go start your own tread...

Once again your right on the money KarenMarie. In the last month I've sought more mature tech forums for my learning experiance.
