Now I go from just under 20,000 in sandra disk bench on IDE 1 to just under 24,000 in sandra by just adding a spare drive onto the 1st Raid Port.
So Easy I am kicking myself! better performance and now All my IDE devices have their own IDE channel!
Just another reason to get onboard Raid!

btw the HD is a WD100JB-SE (8mb cache) quietest HD i've never heard :D

The More I keep tweaking the Iwill the better it gets! KT266A is not the only Top Dog of DDR boards look @ the XP333-R the price is right and it is designed with the tweaker in mind!

Sorry but I don't quite understand what you did. Could explain it a little more for me? I'm getting one in the mail tomorrow.

I think what EXman is saying is that he took a hardrive off IDE1 (reg channel) and put it on IDE3 (RAID channel) not in RAID and performance is better.

Is that right EXman? This thread (among others) and your apparent love of the XP333-R made me think of AZGamer (zealot boy), wonder where he disappeared too? Good mobo indeed keep up the good PR work, damn I want that HD too. Are you planning to RAID with 2 of those or have you tried benching one vs two lesser drives in a RAID0 setup?

Goog is right I took it off the 1st IDE and setup the highpoint controller, then put the HD only on RAID IDE 1 , not 0 though it reads second it is backwards for some reason, the closest port close to the regular IDE ports. Benchmarked both ways (reg IDE and Raid IDE) and the Raid IDE score went up 4000 points

I wish I could afford another $255 HD goog for raid the WD100JB-SE drive to me is well worth the extra few dollars. the plan for me is to wait a bit and pick up one with in the next 6 months then format and make a phat Raid array!

Bummer though I have to buy another rounded cable now that my DVD is not a slave and has its own IDE channel.

So Fellas there will be no drive to drive bottleneck (as bad) since

CD-RW IDE 0
DVD IDE 1
HD on Highpoint Raid controller IDE 1

forget buying an extra card for Raid or extra IDE devices Just get a RAID Board! XP333-R is where it is @!!!

The native Ali drivers and/or IDE channels must be slow. My Leadtek 735KDA scores 24000 with a late model 40G Maxtor using Microsoft XP drivers on IDE 1.
It is nice to have extra IDE channels to keep from having to slave CD burners and CDROM's.
