Got myself a new car...

Congrats! Very clean with low mileage. I love convertibles ,and Miata is one of the best. You did well.

I joined Miata.net, looks to be a nice community with LOTs of information and diy guides.

Good move. That's a nice car. What did you pay for it? I haven't gotten a Miata yet because even the older ones just cost too much.

You can get lucky every now and again and find a good deal on one. I got my 94 turbo for a great deal last year. Just keep looking.

I paid $4600, it too me a while to find a good example and a flexible seller though.

One guy had a '97 for sale in worse condition with 94,000 miles--he wanted $5500 and was not budging on the price.

nice. I'm shooting for a 99 myself... but unfortunately funds fell through to other things.. so it is pushed off yet again. at least it'll be cheaper...

Yeah, they are probably better suited the for Miata, but there is a current raging love-fest for the MX-5 at the SA forums.

I want a miata for my daily driver. They look like awesome little cars. Are the insurance rates higher on 2D sports cars like the miata?

Well I am 19. I was paying $340 for my 00 Corolla and it went up to $470 for the Miata. This is liability only. Rep said it would have been like $8xx for full coverage though...

Per month? Per quarter? Per year?

Whoops I thought I mentioned that. 6 months.

I'm 31 and my 94 miata is $550 a year for full coverage and I got a nice note in the mail about how its a sports car and I need to try to not kill myself. Didn't get one of those with my 89 5.0l mustang 🙂.

Quit worrying about its value and slap a turbo on it. The turbo one are usually expensive as hell anyway so I doubt you will hurt it.

When are you putting a V8 in it?

Soon as you ship me one with some tools... 😛

I will keep it stock, I want it to keep its value.

If you bought it as an investment, don't drive it. If you bought it to drive and have fun in, stop worrying about it's value.

I don't really want to spend the money on a turbo... The car is also my daily driver so I need all the reliability i can get. Not saying a turbo will make it unreliable, but I just don't want to justify the cost for it.

I like the car the way it is... Besides I want to learn how to drive, it has all the power I need for an occasional track day and autocross.

I don't plan on selling it for at least 4 years or until I find a stable source of income. Then I'll probably move up to an S2000 or a C6.

I didn't buy it as an investment. I will have fun regardless if it has 200hp or 130hp IMO...

I have not looked at the cost of FI kits for the Miata, but after all is said and done with labor charges I'd be looking at ~$3k+

There was a modified one for sale a few hundred miles away from me and it was absolutely mint, but I didn't really want to spend more than 5k...
