Got my xmas present: Stg 58

Yep, GF got me the parts kit. I was thinking of this as a next summer project. I picked up the receiver. Can't wait to take her out to the range :evil:

Coonan receiver, got the hammer,trigger and sear. Fake flash hider and stocks coming. Then I'll be all square with the law, can't shoot it until I headspace it anyway, so it'll sit here until everything shows up.

A surprisingly easy build, spent the most time making myself a receiver clamp for getting the barrel off the stub and on the Coonan.
 
Cool. I have a Stg kit from DSA that looks to be almost unfired. I have to order a bunch of receivers, but that's not in the budget until sometime after the new year. Too many other projects and good deals popping up.

what on earth would you do with that?

there is no need for a 2k rifle to hunt deer, a normal "thirty ot(sp?) six)" will work.

There is no need for many things people have, this is a want.

The same reason I have two tricked out 700's at the present time. To practice doing the same thing over and over again with the same results (hopefully).

thirty-ought six, as in .30 caliber, 1906.

There are plenty of gun owners that don't hunt deer, or anything else for that matter.



 
I didn't have any problems with the Coonan build, barrel hand timed to 11:00, put some lovin on with a 3 foot pipe and good to go. Been real happy so far.

DSA's are nice rifles, no room for that in the budget tho. 😉
