Over the weekend I was at college orientation and didn't come back until today (Tuesday). Luckily, my little bro is a smart mofo and installed the card for me. Big improvement over that dinky MSI X800 I had in there before. Scored around 8500+ in 3DMark05 at stock. Don't plan on OCing this thing for a while. Everything runs faster now and looks much better. Great card!

Prey does look mighty fine right now. Tried out COD2, FEAR, Tomb Raider, and some others for a second time. They look great =O

last 12 months? heh, it hasn't even been out for 12 months... and it wasn't a real star until the price started dropping a few months ago.

:D

but its still a great card and I would definitely get one if I had the means.

Nice. It's a great card. Just make sure you use something like ATI tray tools to adjust the fan because the fan speed doesn't increase on its own.

Congratulations on a smooth upgrade!

Thnx =) Upgraded to Catalyst 6.6 as well.

Now you just need to slap an AC Acelero X2 cooler on there and ejoy whisper quiet cooling! I had much better results then the stock cooler and its dead silent! Enjoy your card.

/scratches head...

The fan speed increased automatically on my X1800XT, as it does on my X1900XTX... You should be able to hear it increase the RPM's as needed during gaming, as it isn't exactly quiet.

We'll I didn't install any of the utilities that came with the driver cd, so maybe that's why my fan speed didn't change at all. I actually thought the fan speed was changing at first, and that people had been exaggerating about the noise coming from the fan. That was until I exited BF2 to find the card running at a cool 105C. We'll, whatever the case, I'm now adjusting the fan speed through ATI tray tools so it's all good =) And yes, the fan can get noisy, but I don't run it at 100%. Card idle is about 51C. Load at 71C.

Are there utilities on the driver cd? I will have to check my cd!!

edit: Just checked, all there was was a couple of demo's that didn't recognize my card and net framework 2.

my x1800 fan speed adjusts, easily can tell by just rebooting the pc. it goes into lear jet mode until windows kicks up.
