So I was nervous going into my surgery today and it didnt help when I found that one link through ATOT about a girl who didnt wake up from her surgery. Anyways, I went in, they stuck the Ivy in me and the next thing you know I'm awake. Way cool.

So now I'm back home and took two pain killers and an anti biotic. I didnt feel any pain since I've left but I'm assuming that's due to the painkiller? I had all four removed, which the bottom two were impacted and VERY close to the nerves. Anyways, I'm starving and cant eat solid food. I have to slurp chicken noodle soup for now.

yea my jaws hurt when i try to open them, hence the slurping. hopefully this explains why my gums bleed when i brush them.
i think my gums were swollen due to them being there, so now with them out, hopefully i will be pain free!

The meds will be wearing off soon....then you'll be feeling it.

It takes a while for the swelling to go away.

And yes, the pain will arrive shortly, and eating will be difficult for the first couple days.

It's different for every person, pretty much. Slows down some people a lot more than others.

The fun part is the swelling, which has probably not started yet for you.

I never had pain when I had my 3 wisdoms pulled out about 2 months ago.
He gave me an extra long numb shot and the advil or whatever helped I guess.
I didn't even take the prescription pain medication as again no pain at all for me.
The only annoying thing is not being able to eat what you want, stupid annoying bleeding, and food getting stuck in the sockets later on.

It was no biggie for me. I saved most of the Demerol for later. More of an annoyance than anything.

I had two pulled out and then rode my bicycle to university and then spent the next 6 hours in various classes. It really grossed out the guy next to me when I took the wadded up bloody gauze out of my mouth and tucked it into my backpack.

Heh, due to genetics, I have no wisdom. (teeth, that is!) Unfortunately, I also had only baby canines on the top and one baby molar... I got implants there for the canines - real fun; they take a power drill to your jaw and torque a screw down in there before sewing your gums back on and burning them together (cauterizing?). The local wore off while they were sewing and burning....

Wtf.

Even the day after (and week after) having all 4 of my wisdom teeth out, the pain was negligible. Sure, if I tried eating hard foods that touched the wounds it was uncomfortable, but there was next to zero lingering pain.
