I am really suprised but I am not really that knocked out. I was not really up much yesterday, day of the surgery, but today I am actually doing pretty good. I was kinda nervous because the surgery had messed my brother up for a few days, first day all he did was throw up, and second dya he was knocked out. Iguess I am lucky, I am also considerably bigger than he is.

Did you have all of them out?

Were any of the impacted?

If so on both counts, you probably got a great dentist and were lucky.

You were very smart to ice your face all day yesterday. The dentist told me the same thing. I got home, put the ice on face for two minutes and said "the hell w/that!". Two days later, it looked like I got trampled by a herd of elephants. :(

Stay away from straws and hard candy. Trust us on this one. :)

I just got all (4) of my wisdom teeth pulled a few hours ago. Thank goodness they gave me Nitrous and general anasthesia to knock me out. I do not remember anything they did inside of my mouth. My face is numb and I am enjoying a nice vanilla milkshake.

Strap ice packs to both sides of your face. Use a belt to strap it on if you have to.

You'll look like an idiot, but at least you won't have swelling.

Smart move, as long as you don't go sucking on anything you're in for an easy ride.

I had all four of mine out a few years ago, and didn't have much swelling at all. The ice packs helped. :)

I just had mine out a couple weeks ago. I thought it would be awful, but it wasn't. The laughing gas was fun, I was out cold pretty quickly. Even though all 3 of them were impacted, there was barely any swelling. I went home, slept for 2 hours, and was up and walking around for the rest of the day.

I had all of mine out about a month ago. All four were impacted. I had nitrous, in addition to general anesthesia, and i also had an iv. I don't remember much of that morning...just a moment in the recovery room, then waking up that afternoon. I had very little pain after that also. I had a lot of swelling, though. I had them removed on a Thursday, and by Saturday afternoon, i started to eat some more solid food, (i got sick of pudding and jell-o). And by Monday, I was back at work.

Just remember to keep the area clean, so it doesn't get infected.

I got my 4 removed in my last year of high school. All the dentist gave me was some No2 and some a local. Kinda cool feelling pressure on your wisdom teeth as there being cut in 4.
by the next day, i was pretty well off.
Got them removed on the friday (missed class) and on the sunday i was eating normally.
A friend in my class said, why'd ya miss school on friday, he didn't beleive me when i told him i had gotten my wisdom teeth removed :D

Did you have the dentist save the teeth, 'cuz they are cool! They have like 4 prongs coming down off the tooth itself.

Not if they come out in pieces like three of mine did. heh

I held icepacks on my cheeks, but I still swelled up like Jerry Lewis and had bruising all along my jaw line. I got pictures somewhere, my brother thought that I packed my cheeks with something to make them look swollen. haha, nope.

It's been almost 24hrs. since my (4) teeth were pulled and I am doing quite well. There is little to no swelling and the pain killers do wonders. I have been able to eat oatmeal and drink some smoothies thus far. The dentist said I was free to eat anything I wanted after 24hrs as long as it "felt comfortable", so I guess it's time for some baked salmon and mashed potatoes. ;)

why do you have to take all 4 of your wisdom teeth out??
do you know that it is not necessary to take em all out??? (sometime the teeth comes out ok if there is space in ur gums), other times the wisdom teeth stays dormant and would not come out at all

my dentist handled my wisdom teeth on a case by case basis, I had two of em pullled out (one each year) because they were disturbing the other teeth. However one of my wisdom teeth is dormant, and the dentist said that I should not do anything to it....

It seems that other dentist try to make money by telling customers to take their wisdom teeth out, even when it is not necessary....

good dentist usually make you to take an x ray of your mouth, and look at each wisdom tooth on a case by case basis....

Had all 4 pulled/cut/whatever about 2 weeks ago. They stuck an IV or whatever in my arm and knocked me out. Afterwards, the pain was a BITCH. Painkillers did a good job of suppressing it, but I didn't get enough pills IMHO. Either way, it's no biggie... I lived.

It definitely isn't that bad. I had all four taken out about 3 years ago with nothing but local anesthetic, and I didn't need to take any sort of pain-killers afterward. Of course, I've hardly ever taken any sort of oral pain-relievers before (acetominophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.). I'm satisfied just to grin and bear it... oh no, I'm a masochist! :Q :p

Need I say at least two of the teeth were under a layer of bone and needed to be broken apart (in the jaw) in order to take them out? :Q

I received consultation from (2) respectable dentists in town, and they both recommended that I have all (4) teeth pulled. My lower left wisdom tooth had a huge hole with decay, and one of them had not made it thru the gumline. The gums were not healthy around the wisdom teeth either. All of my wisdom teeth were crowding the rest of my good teeth which was another reason I opted to have them all pulled at once. They recommend you have the teeth extracted before your hit 30+ because the wisdom teeth are not "fully secure" and the recovery process is not as drawn out. Not to mention the cost and pain factor in doing it all at once is far less that doing one or two at a time.

I am pleased with the process thus far.
