Got my tire repaired at Goodyear

So 1 year after getting a flat fixed and having Goodyear remove it and put it back on, I get another flat. As I am taking the flat tire off I find that one of the lugs was crossthreaded.. I got it most of the way off, and of course, at the end it snaps because I dont have an impact wrench or any of way of applying pressure without it being on the end.

I call up Goodyear and the (not manager) guy said "Well we have no way of knowing that we were the last to put that tire on since it has been a year". I understand that point, but if I had anyone else do my tires, wouldnt I have gone to them to get them to fix what they screwed up?

Im calling back in the afternoon to talk with the manager, anyone else have experience with this?

Just ask him for a stud and a lug nut. You don't have to waste his time bitching at him. You don't even have to tell him why you want them. He'll be glad to give you them.

Are you saying this is easy to do on my own without any tools or experience?

The did this to two studs on my moms car. Moral of the story: do your own repairs if you want it done right.

If you just go in instead of calling them. Any tire buster will put it on for you in about 30 seconds. Probably won't charge you either. That's been my experience with tire stores.

Do you have a discount tire in your area? I can't stand going anywhere else, the people at all the discount tires around here are courteous and nice. The ones at other shops are douches. Plus they try to upsell you on other stuff. The one time I had to go to a Firestone since Discount is closed on Sundays, They tried to tell me I needed a oil change and new air filter. Even though I just changed everything the day before.

You went one year without getting your tires checked, balanced, or rotated?

Maybe he brought it to Goodyear for balance and rotation and they told him it was done and 'no problems!' :p

A bad stud isn't something that's easy to replace. Most are hammered onto a plate which takes quite a lot of work to get off. Because of this I doubt they'll be able to help you. It's been too long of a time so it's impossible to prove that they're responsible.

Why would you need any of that (except maybe rotation) done more frequently than annually?

It IS possible that he doesn't drive much.

I have driven my car less than 3000 miles in the past year.

Conviently, during the majority of the year, I only worked 1 mile away, and it was third shift, so when I was awake there was really no where to go.

You mean like this?

That happened about 2 months after Americas Tire put on new tires for me, they had me go to another shop to have a new stud put on w/o charging me a thing.

Edit:
That was a brand new lugnut too, I had them replace them all with one piece nuts.

forgive my ignorance, but what is "reverse threading"? Putting the lugnut on backwards?
