I can't think of any place where rent, water, and electricity amounts to less than $450/year.

So you're saying that 2.5% of what you make isn't worth complaining about? I can guarantee that you'd be all over it like white on rice.

i would bitch about it, but i'd have the right to since noone pays my mortgage payment but me.

🙂 2.5% of my yearly income would be bitching material, but 2.5% of yours isnt 🙂

You're missing the point. 2.5% of anyone's income is worth bitching about.

not in this instance. your parents get to claim you till you move out. legaly they own all your wages until you are 18. Kids used to work their asses off, and give 100% of it to their parents willingly. you are b!tching because they claimed you as a dependant, which you are.

you are an idiot.

I'm an idiot? How about you go back to my age and pay for everything I have. Now here's the fun part... your job only pays you $8.69 an hour. I'm done with this thread.

Although everything you have includes a roof over your head and an outlet to plug your computer and your cell phone recharger into.

If working more or owning less aren't viable options, then welcome to the world everyone else has to deal with every day, too. Perhaps you should begin by writing to your congressman in support of more tax cuts for the lower and middle classes.

Bahhahahahaa.... I already got my taxes done and received my refund. Got to claim my sister as a dependant since she lived with me most of the year.

😉

Okay... I figured I'd have one last word before I was done. My cell phone charges off of my car battery considering that DC charging is a lot faster than AC. Now if you really want to go at me about the $450 I'm bitching about... here's some food for thought. You asked where could I live for $450 that included electricity and water? Well how about you take the real figures for that. What am I worth to them as a dependent? What's it... $3,000? The college tuition I paid for that they got a tax break on... $913. So $3,000 + $913 = $3,913. Take that and divide it by 12 months and you'd get $326. That's enough for me to go live in an apartment on the water with my best friend. Interesting... isn't it? Now I'm done.

FIgured I'd ask here rather than starting my own thread:

2002 was the first year that I worked a summer job, and I made around $2200. I've never paid taxes before, and I don't quite know exactly what I have to do. I'm at college so my parents aren't around to ask. For making such a small amount of money through normal paychecks, what kind of forms do I have to fill out and submit to the IRS? 1040EZ?

Tell me here or PM me or something.

Thanks.

you have to make over a certain amount before the gov cares. I believe that # is $5000, but do not quote me.

I'm getting back $289 claiming 0 for making $18,600 over the past year. I found out that with my parents claiming me totally fvcked up my tax return. I feel like they screwed me out of the $450 (tax return would have been $739) from claiming me as a dependent. Ugh...

Because that stuff is so cheap

when my parents still claimed me my dad would figure out his taxes claiming me and without and i'd do them as dependant or independant. we'd figure out which route we'd get the most money and go that way. He would always give me the difference also cause he'd come out further ahead by claiming me. so i always got what i should have got back. I get 900 back this year last year was almost 3k sucks the more u make the more % they take.
