Okay not going to mention names here but I initiated a deal on the FS/FT forum for a mobo and got it today, it was packaged in bubble wrap entirely, no ANTI static bag, would you bother to hook this up? It's got a cpu in the mobo already which I also had the guy pre ship to me. I'm thinking that toasting my GF3 testing this thing is a very BAD idea..do you think that would be possible? Would you even bother to test it or just ship it back? LMK!!
Thanks in advance
;)

New motherboards are often shipped in anti-static bubble wrap (pinkish). Even if it's regular bubble wrap I would say the chances of it being fried are exceptionally low.

I wouldn't think that it fried it, in my life, I've never fried things due to static, usually it's due to a screwdriver driven in at an angle to the PCB on accident while trying to take off a video heatsink... but that's just an example, I'll deny ever doing that.

Only once have I seen a guy destroy a part with static electricity - he shuffled across the floor then grabbed this guy's video card and shuffled back over to his workbench.....idiot. Anyway,i wouldn't worry too much, usually there isn't much static in the bubble wrap. If it was wrapped in paper I'd worry, but not in bubble wrap.

It's probably okay, and even if the board is toast, the chances of it screwing up your video card are pretty slim.

My exgirlfriend liked to wrap my package in bubblewrap. Yours should be fine.
