It's an Compaq NC8000. Has a Pentium M 1.7Ghz, Radeon 9600 64MB and 512MB RAM. I had asked for the UXGA (1600x1200) LCD but received a SXGA (1400x1050) for some reason. It's a little lighter than my <1yr old Dell Latitude C840 but the build quality is better. I'm going to borrow my bosses credit card and bump the memory up to 1.5GB. Then when I get my tax refund, I'm going to get an external Firewire/USB hard drive so I can play some games.
So far I like this a lot better than the Latitude. I really like the built in wireless (a/b/g) and the LCD seems clearer and brighter. The Latitude was a lot more plasticky and creaky. The Compaq feels more solid to me. We'll see how well this plays games when I get the external HD.

If they charged you for the uxga, GO GET IT! The machine does seem to be a darling; hope you can get some pictures up of it too. As you get more familiar with the machine, definitely share the details! Congrats on your new notebook

My boss paid for it out of our budget and I think our procurement department went through CDW to get it. I believe the total was ~$3200. We don't get any discounts I don't think. It would have been more if I had asked for the extra 1GB RAM from HP. They wanted $1000 for it. I told my boss I'd get it from Crucial and save us $600 in the process.

Although we did ask for the UXGA, we didn't pay for it since they couldn't order it. Pics are coming when I can remember where I put my digital camera. Did I mention this thing has a built in SD card slot? I didn't know about that until I started looking for where my PCMCIA card slots were...nifty.

Here is CDW's site showing what I ordered. Mine was a little more because I have two docking stations and an extra battery. It was probably more than $3200 now that I think about it. When I get into work I'll see if I can't take a look at our invoice.
