Installed it and I'm up and running. Looks incredible in UT2k3 and it's fast and smooth.

I'm happy.

Nice, happy for you. Can you put up some benchines of 3dmark 2001 and 2003? I was thinking about a 2800 Barton so it would help me :)

3dmark01 should still run with dx9, it does on my system. Congrats on your card btw :)

As I recall, you're the person who messed up the memory chip trying to remove a heatsink. At the time you must have been po'd, but things worked out for the best. A 9800 to replace that GF3 has to be a nice bump in performance. Good luck!

For some reason, when I try to run 3dmark01 I get a message that I need to upgrade to directx 8.1 before I can run this program. Any ideas?

BTW-I downloaded and ran 3dmark03 and got a score of 4968. The CPU intensive portion of the test was really slow in parts though (less than 15 fps) so I think this brought down my scores (does this test favor the Pentium 4 chips?). I also haven't tried tweaking any settings on the card yet. It is set at the defaults right now.

Yes, I'm the one who tore a memory chip off my old card. I'm still bummed about that. I really wanted to build up another system with that card for LAN parties at my house. I have an extra monitor, case, PS, CD-ROM, memory. All I would need is a motherboard and cpu. I was going to pick up an AMD Athlon 1800 XP+ with motherboard from Fry's for $59.95! Now I'm looking at more than three times that if I still want to do it.

Click on 'MyRide' below and go to page 2. I just added two pics of my system I took last night after installing the new card for anyone interested.

I would say they are both pretty good in performance. The car is fast, comfortable and quiet. I just bought it in April so I'm still in the honeymoon phase with it (the 2004 Maxima had just hit dealer showrooms so I got a great deal on the 2003 model). I love it. It has the same engine as the new 350Z (which is what I would have bought if I didn't have a 12 month old son), 3.5 liter V6.

I just can't bring myself to mar the looks of it by putting roof racks on it so I can haul my surfboard to the beach. :(

I'll probably get a bunch of crap from cardomain.com for posting pics of my computer on a car nut website. ;)

Just got an ATI 9800 128 Pro myself, kick ass card...

by the way, where do you live Jules?

Just curious because of your window tint...looks like tint laws are either strictly enforced there, or thats an odd factory tint job.

California. The CHP will pull you over for front door window tint. Most people get away with a lighter tint on the front but I didn't want the hassle so I went legal with it. It does look a little funny from a direct side shot but any other angle and it isn't so obvious. I mainly did it so the sun isn't shining in my little one's eyes when he's in the car.

anyway, nice card, same as mines. Runs great, but once your card becomes dated or your a daredevil like me, BIOS flash that to a Pro.

I can hotrod my PC, but not my car

got a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero GLS (3.4L V6, Power everything, Leather, Sunroof, 4 wheel disc w/ABS+TC) Almost mint condition. No marks on leather, carpet obviously kept nice and clean and I mean like NEW. Trunk has no marks from loading and carpet is all original there too. I mean it's like it is NEW! anyway got a great deal on it.

On to my PC I hotrod it and overclock and do all kinds of stuff my car wouldn't allow me to do

:)

I hotrodded my last two vehicles, a 1994 Mustang GT I bought used-I did all kinds of stuff to that car and it was pretty sweet (it's in the pics on page two even though I don't own it anymore). It had 100k miles on it though and I was sick of driving a 5spd with a racing clutch 70+ miles a day in stop and go traffic so I traded it in on a 2000 Toyota Tundra. I did a few things to the Tundra (mainly exhaust) but it was a leased vehicle so I decided not to keep it-had too many issues with it. I'm not a truck guy anyway. I love a sporty car and the Maxima is certainly that. It's the SE version so it has performance suspension and 17" wheels. I didn't get leather on it. Only option mine has is the sunroof. Other than that the car is very nicely equipped as it is. HID headlights, steering wheel mounted stereo controls, power drivers seat, power windows/locks/mirrors, cruise, in dash cd player and trip computer. I paid $22k (almost $5k off msrp) and did 1.9% financing for 5 years.

I know, this is WAYYYY off topic. Sorry, back to computers...

I like modding my computer but haven't done much in O/Cing it. Just a little bit here and there. I never leave it at those settings though. It runs everything I need it to with ease at stock speeds anyway.
