I switched my server from Maxtor 5*160G 5400 to WD 8*100G 7200 WD1000BB and was worried by the heat but the new drives are awesome only handwarm thats quite surprising for a 7200 drive!

Yep I agree,
I have the WD 100BB and the 300BB
they are stable drives and good performers, they are also very quite!

I will soon be purchasing 2 more 300BB's or maybe the 400BB's, for my son's computers.

What are the WD100BB?? I thought their 100GB ATA100 7200RPM drives were called the WD1000BB and the WB1000BB special edition.

😕

Since we are spellchecking.😉

Were you trying to spell QUIET?

The biggest hdd I own is a WD 800BB. Plus I'm using a 30gig maxtor for file storage only. Which gives me a total of 110gig's worth of space. I did have a 20gig hdd installed also but I took that out. So I can install my DVD drive back in and also to allow me to make CD to CD copy's.

As we speak I have two 20gig hard drives in static bags that is not in use. These hdd's are only like 2 years old and still works without any problems.

You know our Novell file server at work doesn't even have that kind of storage space....

(but you can't beat our backup auto-loader for storage..😉...)
