Well, I got everything installed, and it looked terrific over VGA at 1920 x 1200. Text was sharp, colors great, no dead pixels. I was ecstatic.
Then I put in the CD and went to Dell's website to install the latest and greatest driver for the NVideo 64MB GeForce4 MX420 for my Dell 4550. I get a message saying not to install because the drivers haven't passed the Windows Logo Test, so I choose not to install. When I get to the Desktop, I find that the 1920 x 1200 option no longer exists. I try to Roll Back to the previous driver, and I get a message that the monitor doesn't support 1920 x 1200 on Input 1. I try a System Restore to yesterday, and I only get 4 bit resolution with no sign of my NVidea drivers. I've installed the original drivers from my Dell system resource CD, and I get 1600 x 1200 at 16 bit resolution.
Why didn't I leave well enough alone? Can anyone help me?
Thanks
