Got my new 2405FPW...HELP!!!

Well, I got everything installed, and it looked terrific over VGA at 1920 x 1200. Text was sharp, colors great, no dead pixels. I was ecstatic.

Then I put in the CD and went to Dell's website to install the latest and greatest driver for the NVideo 64MB GeForce4 MX420 for my Dell 4550. I get a message saying not to install because the drivers haven't passed the Windows Logo Test, so I choose not to install. When I get to the Desktop, I find that the 1920 x 1200 option no longer exists. I try to Roll Back to the previous driver, and I get a message that the monitor doesn't support 1920 x 1200 on Input 1. I try a System Restore to yesterday, and I only get 4 bit resolution with no sign of my NVidea drivers. I've installed the original drivers from my Dell system resource CD, and I get 1600 x 1200 at 16 bit resolution.

Why didn't I leave well enough alone? Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Go get the driver that you originally tried to download. The windows thing means nothing, go and install anyways. That should help. Once you've got nvidia drivers, if it still does not work, you can create a custom resoulution in the advanced options of the drivers.

right. Install the driver not passsing the windows logo test means nothing.

Many thanks!

After installing the original drivers, I Updated Drivers from the Display Settings, and everything seems back to normal.

Man, this is a great monitor. I can't wait to see how it looks over DVI.

Thanks again!
