I think it comes down to use case. I go past the 2GB on my iPad Air 2 all the time, 2GB can barely take a dozen tabs in a web browser. To me the biggest upgrade they could do is 4GB. I use about 20 tabs on average if I can.

What makes it relevant is the big iPad Pro has 4GB so they can do it. This was a cost saying measure, and I am tired of giving Apple a pass on those when its obvious (iPhone SE, iPad Air 2 in 2014) they can really give us value when they want to.

One of the bigger things for a pro model especially is the multitasking. 2GB is okay for heavy single thread or light multi-tasking. 4GB is really needed for heavy multi tasking that a pro model should be designed around.

All in all, aside from the 2gb ram the pro has some useful stuff looking for a pro tablet. Just most of it is pretty meh to the average iPad user. The next big upgrade I want is an OLED screen. I use my ipad in the dark all the time and the LED glow is annoying.
