Just got a big BenQ package delivered. I'll let it warm up a few hours (it's been in the Purolator truck since before 8am) and may install it tomorrow morning only as there's some hockey to watch this evening. :)

I'll post pics for you guys when I'm done.

If you turn on all the burners on the stovetop, run the oven, toaster and maybe some hot water into the sink at the same time...it will warm up faster :)

Looks like a nice monitor. Enjoy!

Grats! Looks great :)

It looks like my latest LCD purchasing saga will soon be coming to a close as well. I settled on the Gateway FPD24-whateverelse and after a few initial growing pains, I've grown quite fond of it. The colors on the Gateway out of the box are horrible compared to the 2407WFP and need adjusting. Still tweaking them a bit in games to get rid of crushed blacks. One dead pixel and some corner backlight bleeding that strangely goes away after the monitor warms up, but otherwise its a pretty nice monitor. And it does 1:1. :)

It's warming up on its box for the next couple of hours while I nap. That should be enough as my apartment is very warm.

Appears smaller that I thought. Maybe it will look bigger once on my desk at eye level. It's probably me not being used to the thinness compared to my 19" CRT.

Congrats on making a good choice... I'm very happy with mine at least... after you get it set up let us know if you lucked out & got the new firmware.

Just be sure to do a lot of testing for dead pixels in the first couple days, because as far as I know BenQ's zero-dead-pixel warranty is only seven days after receipt. (Mine didn't have any that I could find)

Does this monitor use the S-PVA panel?

I'm in the market for a 24" WS. The BenQ is like $100 more than the Gateway 24" and the 2407wfp, is it worth the extra money?

Quite impressed with the monitor so far. Had to bring the brightness down quite a bit in ATI Control Panel so that I could leave it at 30 on the monitor. Left the contrast at 50 and did not alter the colours. They look good enough to me.

Dead pixel buddy showed one dead pixel near the left edge when in green mode.

There is also something that shows exactly in the center when looking at a black screen, like the tiniest pin prick of light. If I remove my bifocals and get 3-4" from it to look (I am very nearsighted but that comes in handy at times), I see that it is not on a pixel but between pixels and only about one fifth the size of a pixel. Don't know if that is a fault but I am not particularly in the mood to return the monitor just for those even though I have the NCIX zero-pixel insurance. Afterall, it did not take me long to unsee the wires in my Diamondtron CRT.

The colours are very vibrant and I am getting used to the extra workspace. Top of the monitor feels just as warm as my CRT did. I expected less heat somehow but that is my first LCD so I had no idea. One major disappointment is that the fonts and objects look quite smaller at 1920x1200 than they looked at 1152x864 on my 19" CRT. I adjusted the web fonts acordingly but some Windows texts have remained small and I found no way to alter them in Appearance- Advance.

I'll get used to that eventually.

There is a little greying laterally due to the viewing angles and my mind seems to notice it more on the right side than on the left for some reason, even though I am looking dead centre at the monitor.

Overall, I am happy with my purchase.:)

I tried to take pics but have no tripod and my camera did not get the colours right. I'll try again when it's daytime.

This LCD has the new firmware installed by the NCIX technicians but I haven't tried it yet. My ATI CCC was borked for some reason, would not open and I tried all day to fix this to no avail, so I installed Cat 6.12 with the old Control Panel. This only has the option to scale while keeping aspect ratio, no 1:1 option. Unless that is done by the monitor buttons but the menus there are quite cryptic to me.
