got my first LCD, wondering what's wrong with something

never owned an LCD and went out and got a samsung 931b

thought it would be a decent buy but maybe i was wrong.

on pretty much any text/image most of the time i see a shadows behind everything. is this what they call ghosting?

it's very annoying but i just didn't know if this was something i could fix or not?

let me know if i'm not making sense, don't really know how else to put it.

edit- i change vga cables and it went away.

That probably is another issue. Ghosting is just a term where when u move something on the screen fast, you'll see a sort of blur, a blend between the old and the new. Even if the monitor has a crappy response time, you shouldn't notice anything if you don't move anything around. If you see shadows, that's another problem.

This can happen if the LCD isn't synced perfectly to the VGA signal (like phase/clock adjustments). Usually an auto-adjust finds good settings (I've still had shadows after auto though), but the VGA cable could have been bad too.

Enabling cleartype may help... just search "cleartype" on Microsofts site to use their web interface thingy. works like a charm
