Median or not, it's hard. It seems like every month has some kind of random expense that costs hundreds. Patching my teeth was almost $400 (that's AFTER insurance), replacing my broken glasses this month was about $500. God help you if you live in the US and you see a doctor. The whole year's budget is gone in 2 seconds.
