I often play games on my HDTV hooked up to my tower. Needless to say a wired keyboard/mouse isn't practical from 15 feet away.

I've been using a dinovo Edge, and I love the keyboard, but the touchpad sucks for gaming.

I found one of the Razer Mambas for a little less than half price and it came today.

I know some love it, and some don't, but I don't want to have a lot of lag, and with the price I don't see that I can go wrong unless it really sucks.

Any opinions on this mouse? It's charging now so I haven't had a chance to try it out.

Well..it looks pretty cool on Razer's site... however, it looks like a design that I couldn't handle [MX518 mouse work absolutely perfectly for me]
 
I have the Mamba and I hate it. Piece of crap as far as I'm concerned. I'm tempted to just fire up my old G7 and go with that, but I feel like I should at least try and get my money's worth.

1. The size/weight. Feels too light and small in my hands.

2. The fact I can't just recharge the battery on its own, i.e. no back-up battery while I'm using it. Sure, I can switch to wired pretty easily if it dies on me in the middle of something, but kind of defeats the purpose of a wireless mouse.

3. Sometimes, when I turn it on after turning on my PC and undocking the mouse, it does not turn on right away and I have to switch it off then on very quickly.

4. Gets very dirty on top because of the material used on it, plus it gathers all kinds of dust on the circle surrounding the laser and in the little foot pads. Constantly cleaning the damn thing.

5. Pads are already falling off the bottom of the mouse and I need to push them back on every time I use the thing.

These are all minor complaints really, but for a ~$150 mouse, and being used by a person that does not even get to game that often, it should not have these kind of issues. Understandably a couple of these are personal preference things, so I could throw those out the window, but the others are unacceptable.

I have a Logitech Performance Mouse MX. Wouldn't normally blow money on a mouse like that, but it was a special case because I bought an MX Revolution a couple years ago and last month I finally sent it in for a warranty replacement after the skin peeled off really badly and the middle click stopped working half the time.

It's more of a multimedia mouse than a gaming mouse, but I like it. It has a micro-USB port for charging, a removable AA NiMH battery, and the button layout is just better than the MX Revolution. Slightly less customizable but the little button under the scroll wheel is now exclusively used for switching between smooth and notched scrolling and middle click is always middle click.

The range is decent, especially considering how tiny the receiver is. Too bad my keyboard doesn't also use the unifying receiver; I have a Cordless Wave set which has a very large and short-range receiver and also includes an LX8 mouse I don't use. But the keyboard itself is great.

I agree that you shouldn't have these problems. I wonder if this is common or a QC issue? Neither is right though.

I didn't pay that much. I was at the right place at the right time and spent about half of what you did. Hot deal? Yeah if it works.
 
I've eyed the Mamba when I went to get a new mouse 2 weeks ago. Only real reason besides its price for why I didn't get it was cause there wasn't a display model out to get a feel for it.

I'm still tempted to go get it though, I picked up a Naga and overall I like it, it just is a lil on the small side and the shape is a bit odd since the right side has an extrude area that I'm guessing most others can rest their ring finger on but I just skip it completely instead.

Bought the naga cause it was $80, but wasn't on display either lol. But it does fit the bill for me needing more buttons. I have/had a DeathAdder and I love that mouse but it needs a few more buttons on it 🙁

Sorry man, not trying to crap on your purchase at all, just kind of venting my frustrations. Hopefully it all works out well for you, and at half price it's a very good start. :awe:

Keep an eye on the feet though, I know another guy here posted about it happening to him as well.

I quite like my G7. I'd still be using it if I weren't too lazy to get Logitech to replace the batteries for me.

Yeah, I like mine too. No real reason for me to change, it still works perfectly, I just had the itch to buy something new. Dumb. 🙄

Yeah, I don't like the rubbery material on the deathadder. Fortunately it has not worn out on mine, and I have not had any problems with pads underneath coming loose. For a $150 mouse I would expect something more durable, and part of that would be no rubber coating.
 
I have a Razer DeathAdder. I love the sensitivity of movement it offers, and it's ideal for me because I don't like a lot of buttons.

Best razer mouse so far. My only complaint is flat right side without groove for the pinky, makes it difficult to lift the mouse.

The amount of X10000 supermouse /w 10 million DPI newbs ive trashed with that mouse... insane...

If only they made a more durable version of it i wouldnt have had to go over to a logitech MX518. I went through 4 of these in a few years and they all developed the double click problem 🙁

That mouse (or one that looks exactly like that) was my first optical mouse ever, circa 2000, I think. Demanded the "precision" because my photoshop work was suffering with a ball mouse. Generally a decent mouse for web-browsing and word processing, but it would skip like mad if I whip it too around too quickly. Ultimately proved detrimental to my FPS gaming, so I ended up switching to a Logitech MX300.
 
I finally bit and went wireless. I picked up the Logitech Wave Pro at BB (strangely it was $5 cheaper than just the "Wave" which includes a crappier mouse.)

The mx1100 mouse is awesome. Perfect shape, size and weight. I love that you can change the scroll wheel between clicky and free wheelin' for scrolling through long documents. The Wave Pro is also the only place you can find the rechargable version. I use it for 6+ hours a day and it still hasn't needed to be recharged yet.

Before this I also used an ancient MS Explorer. I have to keep the DPI as low as possible or my cursor goes insane as I'm used to the old explorer.
 
I've tried two Razors, a G5, a G7 (with those cool weights inside you can take out), and a Microsoft Revolution. All sucked imo. The middle mouse button resistance is like 50% higher than say.. my trusty MX518.
