I have a question about text messaging. Is there any way to know if the person you're sending the message to actually received it? Does it "bounce back" or something like that if you send it to a number that doesn't exist or can't receive text? Help a n00b out.

Not too sure. I usually call or email the other person. But I do know somtimes text msg do not go through instantly.

Umm, in Aus that isn't a network option, although my CDMA phone supports it iirc. It just gets held on teh network until the phone comes back into range then it sends it to the phone...

Most phones have a delivery report option which will send you a text back when the receiving person has received it on their handset, of course this depends on your network to support this. At least it's pretty common in Europe so I don't know about this US.

Agreed. Usually when sending international texts, I usually make sure that this option is checked. Obviously, it makes a difference what provider you have. You may have to check with you provider and see what they say. Call them up is the best bet.

Also, what mobile you got? And provider? So maybe other people can reply, and you don't have to make that call.

Sometimes, even if the message was sent, it may be severely delayed, or not even received (because the receiving phone was off). In that case, you will still see a message sent, because it has been sent from your phone, but not actually received.

on my old phone i used to get some text messages every now and then that just said "call me" and stuff...never knew who it was from.
