So are there any in-game tutorials to play for TF2 or is it pretty much, "start swimming bitch!".

This is pretty much the best you're gonna get in that regard.

At this point, TF2 might be a touch hard to get into, as it's gotten a bit more complicated since release. But is still the shooter with the most personality on the market today. I laugh pretty much every time I play it. Usually, everyone can find a class they really like, as most classes are very different.

On the other hand, a guy I know dislikes the game. The only basis for this dislike that I've been able to discern is the lack of an assault rifle and the slight abundance of shotguns.

I really liked Combat Arms before I got fed up with the rampant cheating. The gameplay is very arcadey with a nice array of weapons and armor/cosmetic features.

The thing with TF2 is you really need a team that communicates, that is when it is the most fun. If you play on a server where nobody ever text or talks, and just does their own thing, it can get frustrating .

COD4 = shoot, chuck nade, rinse and repeat. Got sick of it within the first hour, no comparison to the original COD and UO. TF2 though is awesome, when you play with a good team that works together and knows what their class is supposed to do.

Yea CoD4 is boring. Every map you do exactly the same thing and it's not a team game. You just go and shoot and kill people. I enjoy the team aspect and varying classes in TF2 much more.

One of the things that sucks about COD 4 is that for the majority of the maps you're not shooting at people, you're shooting at microscopic brown dots wayyyyyy in the distance. And the learning curve for sniper maps isn't a curve at all, it's a vertical wall as you get your head taken off again and again by a brown smudge a mile away. At least in TF 2 the guy I want to kill is red and jumping.

I tried playing COD4 on my cousin's Xbox, had this problem. Add to that the fact that even if I did see the guy, I couldn't aim well enough at distance to hit him....

I also used the TF2 excuse. I'm not used to camoflage in the slightest.
