Ok just a quick review here.

1. The image quality is outstanding. The colors are perfect.
2. This does have AW-Polarization
3. View angles are awesome this is certainly a H-IPS panel.
4. Button are a bit on the cheap side but ok.
5. The bezel and stand are fine, not top notch but not cheap either.
6. The LCD is dead silent no noise at all.
7. The lack of brightness control does suck. Anything below 45 brightness really screws the black levels. The LCD is really bright but I could get used it.
8. Their is no backlight bleed at all that I can see.
9. Color uniformity is perfect.
10. No dead or stuck pixels.
11. The black levels are dead on really nice blacks.

All in all for $500 your getting a 26 inch H-IPS with really only one downside, the lack of brightness control. But you can turn it down somewhat and it is manageable. And to think about 6 months ago a 26 inch IPS panel would have cost you about $800-1000. I got mine for $449 with $50 for shipping no sales tax not bad. I'll post some pictures this weekend..

🙂

I don't have exact numbers, but I played BF2, BF2142 and Obilvion and they were all just as good as my Dell 2209WA. But I play with vsync on. I noticed no lag or ghosting or tearing...

thats pretty great. the reason i got my 27.5" Hanns-G instead was 2 fold, first i heard that their bezel is really horrible on that monitor, and second the brightness control (or lack there of) would be REALLY hard on my eyes. i have my monitor set to 25/100 brightness and it's still extremely bright, with contrast @ 45/100. back when they still had their 265N model i would have considered it instead, but it also cost $600-700 back then.

I have the same monitor, it's stellar, although I'd like to be able to adjust the backlight. Still the best monitor for the price I paid ($459 AR from newegg in April).

I used that test picture on interfacelift.com the one with the blue earth. Then looked at the angles. No white glow 🙂

No white glow, and the red tinge is present. AW-Polarization 🙂

Here is a picture head on and at an angle...

Yeah, the red tinge is barely noticeable. I love my 265 as well 🙂

I figured out a good setting for it. I set the brightness at 44 on the LCD. Then I use the Nvidia Control Panel to adjust the brightness to 40 and the contrast to 20. No it seems alot less bright plus the blacks are still black 🙂

Dam this monitor is BRIGHT! I really wish their was a way to lower the brightness a bit more. During the day its fine, but now at night its blinding. And if you lower it it totally screws up the black level...

Now I'm not sure what to do. During the day its perfect. But at night its like a super nova. Their has to be a way to set the brightness just right during the night..

zod96; if you have a reading light near your desk, just turn it on while you're using your computer at night...

to be honest I've now adjusted to being able to use it in pitch black without it really bothering me.

I'll move my small lamp above my desk and see if that helps. During the day its fine. Its just as night. Its almost like I don't need to turn a light on in my room because the monitor is so bright it lights up the whole room...

Get something like this and point it at the wall behind the monitor.

I actually have one of those already. But its in another room. I'll move it and see what happens tonight. The monitor is really cool display wise...

Seriously what was the main reason to not include brightness control on a monitor of this caliber and class?? It's not like it's a sub- $200 bux monitor!

I mean the ability to adjust brightness and contrast are fundamental to any monitor.

I have to agree their. I have no idea what doublesight was thinking when they did that. Although I think I have figured out a way to fix things. You have to use a combination of OSD settings and your desktop driver control panel color settings. I think I have figured out a good balance for both desktop use and gaming during the day or night. I'll make sure its ok later when its dark. Still light here 🙂

Ok I think I found a comfortable settings for both night and day. The IPS panel in this LCD is outstanding. And one of the best things is no white glow when viewing from an angle 🙂
