Hmm...I didn't get the dorm I want and I didn't get a roommate - I got 5. I wanted either Jefferson or Daniels (ideally, I wanted Dabney Hall) Hall but ended up with Sawyer Hall.
As for my 5 roommates...wow. I thought one is more than enough, but 5...sheesh. I'm sure it's going to be fun, but I'll probably find it very difficult to study, sleep, or just get some privacy and peace and quiet with 1 guy listening to Nirvana on his 5.1 speaker system at full volume, 1 guy watching the first 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan, 2 guys getting drunk, and the last banging his girlfriend who also happens to be known as "The Screaming Banshee."
The best thing is that I have two places to go. I live 20 minutes away from UCincinnati - I can go home if I want my privacy and I can stay at my dorm when I want to get away from my parents.
Anyway, I have my roommates-to-be's name and contact info - two have AOL email addresses so I can IM them, and the other 3 I can call. Two live in Cincinnati...so they probably live 20 minutes away so I might be able to meet them before school starts. Any advices? Should I go ahead and contact them first or wait for them to call me? And what should I say to break the ice (besides the obvious like the boring questions about age or major)? And what should I expect when living with 5 other guys?
