Backlighting like the pics you have shown above are common with just about any LCD..though room lighting , media and even your sitting position can play into it. Your pics were severe but every now and again when everything is just right I see a little backlighting in the corner of my 2001FP.

Perhaps there were some defective monitors but id wager that the vast majority of them are from overly sensitive owners picking out the natural backlighting that is common with all LCDs.

I agree completely.. My laptop has it somewhat and it is not a big deal.. If you look at the original Backlight picture it's not even on the left side of the screen and it was not that bad. I would definitely be keeping it, but it when you add the 5 dead/stuck pixels with the backlight, i figured i would get it replaced.

Hopefully my next one is better.

🙂

How long did it take for them to send you your tracking number? My order status changed to "Shipped" today, but I'm still not seeing a tracking number...

I did not get a single update on the Dell website for my replacement.

As for the original purchase I ordered on the 27th and had a tracking number the 28th. Delivered the 30th.

That's probably just a hold on your card (temp charge) so you don't keep both monitors.

😀

Too bad they didn't slip up and send me two.

Can anyone that has received a replacement tell me if it comes with a shipping label?

I wonder why $600 though :Q

Congrats! I also want that monitor . . . but first I have to build the computer to go with it 😛

EDIT: is that backlight problem on the bottom, or just the wallpaper??

and how much $$ do you pay for it?

😀

Thanks...

$564 shipped.

$564!!!? Where at???

Wow, maybe I underestimated Dell.

My replacement as at work right now. Should pick up tonight.

It was not scheduled to ship until Thurs. 20th.

WTG Dell.

I believe it should be an A01 panel and will update when I get it.

😀

Good, I need to know how bad/good that backlight issue is on the A01.

I just got my 2005 FPW today. 2 dead pixels on the left side of the screen. Not very noticeable unless i really try hard, but hey, I paid a lot of money for this thing. Also, how do you figure out if this thing is revision 00 or 01?

Check back of monitor on a white sticker.

Hmmm...

I just don't know..

After using this for awhile I would prefer dead/stuck pixels over the backlight issue.

I don't know if I am going to keep this.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Welp,

I decided my first one (even with dead pixels) is definitely better than my 2nd ( A01 ) and I am sending it back.

Just got off the phone with Dell and a new one is on the way..

They did screw up and not send me shipping labels, but he said they will do that this time.

Hopefully this next one is a good one. Or I may just stick it out with my first one. The backlight bleeding has seemed to subside a bit.

:Q

congratz on the new replacement

should be getting mine either friday, monday, or tuesday

ordered on 1/3/2005, but the wait will be worth it if the problems are taken care of

I cannot get over how long it has taken to actually receive your panel.

Ordered on the 13th and it came yesterday. Ordered the original on the 27th, that was there the 31st i think..

I finally got mine today. I like it quite a bit. No dead pixels (I have 3 now on my 2001FP, although only two are noticeable at all, one in the middle towards the bottom and the other up near the close/minimize/maximize buttons on windows). Has some slight backlight leakage in the lower left, but its not really noticeable to me, so looks like a keeper.

I even played some Resident Evil 4 on it, looked pretty good considering it was S-Video.

I got my new today 2005FPW and it sure looks pretty. NO DEAD PIXELS, NO BACKLIGHTING ISSUES. Manufacttured Dec. 04 Rev. A01.

It's a keeper. Hope all the rest of you get the display you deserve.

Good to hear. If I don't get a good one with this next replacement I will keep my original.

When the replacement comes, does Dell provide shipping labels so I can send the other one back?

Yep. But I believe someone screwed up and forgot.

Hi Fellas,

I jsut got my 2005FP after reading many of your good experiences with it. I got two stuck pixels and some baclight bleeding. The one pixel is stuck bright green close to the middle. I can really only see it when a dark image is put on the screen and i also got a stuck red one which is not as noticable in the lower right center.

The bleeding though in the upper left kinda makes the tittle bar look a bit washed out though.

What you guys think? should i get a replacement or is this pretty common and i am wasting my time?

Also, what number do you guys call to get a replacement, just the 1-800 number on the top of their webpage?

If you are unsatisfied, return it. You paid good money for it. Do it within the 21 day satisfaction window, though.

Welcome to the forums and good luck if you decide to return your monitor.

I decided to return it. I am waiting on the new one now. The baclight bleeding is quite bad in the upper right. On a black screen it almost looks gray.

On a positive note, anyone considering going the 2001FP, Dont, widescreen OWNZ. i was skeptical at first, but i am very glad i went widescreen.
