It came a day early as everyone predicted. I got home from work put it in and got to work on OCing it.
Boots up fine, 1024 PC3200 in Dual Channel.
So first setting I try is 220MHz. Boots fine, run some tests stable. Push it to 230MHz System starts to boot but when XP splash screen comes up the system resets. OK says I, either the proc or memory or both need a pinch more volts. So I go in and give a small increase. Save and Exit BIOS. Video doesn't start up, just power. Power it down and try to turn on again. No go, it powers on but no video. So I power down again and reset the BIOS. Boots up fine, I set it to 225, it gets into Windows but then crashes. So again I try and up the volts a little but with the same results.
This is weird. So I head over to Sudhian and do a little searching. What did I turn up? That the voltage adjustments are just cosmetic and that 90% of the owners of this XPC have the exact same issue.
This makes me glad that I only bought the Corsair VS. Since I can't use anything but default voltage it would have been a big waste otherwise.
At least I got 2.2GHz at stock voltage. That isn't too bad is it?
