Check out the spec scores...I am there and above some of the more expensive systems...

I am running the 71.24 drivers...no issues so far!!! I used the 66.90's on the 5800u

Also the 5800 score where ran on my memory running 550ddr and 330fsb with 166 divider. The 6800 is running 9x294 for similar clock but 166 divider for 480ddr...Got a bad stick of gskill that needs to be rma'd....

---------------------------------3dmark2k1------------3dmark03-------------3dmark05
5800u 525/1100----------------20800s-----------------6000--------------------990s

6800 350/700(12x1,5vp)------21857------------------9847--------------------3681

6800 375-800(12x1,5vp)------21961------------------10146-------------------NA

6800 385-850(12x1,6vp)------22943------------------10400-------------------3986

(8x330HTT, 520ish DDR)

6800 392-850(12x1,6vp)------24700------------------11265-------------------4230
(8x330HTT, 520ish DDR)

6800 375-900(12x1,6vp)------23450------------------10525-------------------4060

As you can tell the 4 extra pipes were not there...They have issues, but I got the extra vert....

The card runs surprising cool as the highest I have seen is 51c load and I have seen 38c idle....I dont understand all the complaints on the noise either. With case closed tight as it is my overall system noise has not changed. I do not hear any whining or throttle up during 3d gaiming either....

Does core make more of a difference or memory speed in most ppls experience??? At 375 I am running GT core speed, but I am still 100 off of memory speed, 128mb less of it, and ofcourse 4 less pipes....

...and don't forget that you ony have regular DDR verses DDR 3 for the GT / Ultra 😉

Interesting...

This thing did 900mhz so far....Now I know it is DDR and DDR3 but doe the late4ncy penalties or DDR3 make it so that if I got this thing to 1000 DDR would it be similar in performance...beyond the fact I have only 12 versus 16 pipes....

I also tested 400 core works fine as well!!!

I am running it at 375/900 where I looped it for hours last night....

Since I plan on CADing more then gaming this is all in the name of ocing fun!!!

The organisation of the chips has no effect on the bus width, however. The memory subsystem is still 128 bits wide. To counterbalance the negative impact of the new memory's higher latencies (and probably also to differentiate the new card from the previous model), NVIDIA decided to raise the memory frequency from 450MHz (900MHz DDR) to 475MHz (950MHz DDR). The core frequency of the NV36 GPU remains unchanged at 475MHz, however.

so, yes, the higher clock speeds will compensate for performance since the DDR3 has higher latency

core speed and mem speed go hand in hand.
overclock the core and the mem will bottleneck ~ overclock the mem and the core will bottleneck ~ etc etc.

i run 1200mhz mem.... and yea it wants more more more!

🙂

YOu got 1200mem out of a 6800LE card???? WOW!!!

I put my system back to the 330HTT and ~520osh ddr and scores went way up.....I guess 3dmock is on of those synthetic benchs that like the bandwidth....

I am pretty sure in his case the LE card refers to the Limited Edition 325/1100 EVGA card released long time ago (which was an underclocked 6800Ultra). So his ram isnt overclocked that much.

Either way, if you did have a 6800GT card with 16 pipelines, increases in gpu speed would prove to be much more important than memory increases. It's too bad your 4 extra pipelines were faulty.

I need to go back and test them cause I think I turned them on after I was at 375/850

Would there be a chance they work at 350/700 or maybe even 325/700, and if so would this have a big eough effect to offset the loses in speed??

No luck the pipes are corrupted... wont run 350/700, 325/700, 300,700.....

Oh well I dont now how that would translate in my resolutions I play games (real world) or in the CAD apps...
