Hey guys and gals, I was wondering what board I should be thinking about for this new combo. I am currently running an Iwill XP333-R but the Ali chipset is getting a little long in the tooth, so I was looking to purchase a new board. I was thinking about the Epox board but I have had limited success with them in the past. :( Please LMK what you guys think, your opinion counts! :D

IMO, the Epox 8K5A series of KT333 motherboards are excellent performers and excellent quality motherboards. Look at the thread at the top of this forum for more info on them. If you are steadfastly non-Epox, the MSI KT3 Ultra2 is a decent choice. :)

Ok, in my limited experience, I would avoid the Gigabyte Ga-7vrxp. It's supposedly a speed demon, but has problems with Audigys and Geforce4 voltage regulation. Also, if you go to S3 suspend, the on-board lan goes out until you completely power-down your system. I just replaced my Ga-7vrxp with a Chaintech Apogee 7VJL KT333, and I have never been happier. I kept reading in reviews that it was one of the slower KT333 motherboards, but I disagree 100%. Runs much bettre than my ga-7vrxp, and get this! It comes with rounded cables, a distribution of linux, 4.1 capable headphones (if you use onboard sound, which can do 5.1), and a drive-bay box with USB and sound-out puts. Overall, its just an awesome board for the price. $115 shipped at www.newegg.com

I recommend the MSI KT3 Ultra 2 or Asus A7V333. The MSI is my personal favorite.

Those both use the VIA KT333 chipset. If you're looking for KT400, I really can't make a recommendation on those. The technology hasn't "matured" yet (and I really haven't done any research into specific KT400 boards).

Check out today's review of the Gigabyte 7VAXP.

I picked up the Albatron KX400+ Pro w/ AXP 2000+ combo from Fry's this week. So far, it has been an outstanding board - very stable. :D I don't overclock though.

Last night i help a buddy put together XP 2100 system with an Asus AV7V33, this is my third time setting up a system with this board. I've never ran into any problems. Stable and fast.

I've used the MSI KT333, and was pretty happy with it. I also setup Gigabyte board, it was disappointing. Ran into some bumps, but eventually got resolved.

I know Epox is fan favorite for its overclocking abilities.
