Yep, for anybody who has questions about whether it was the real deal from eastluna or any other place, it is indeed the retail, comes with a nice box just like the deluxe but says premium with a flip out top on the top of the box that has some nice pics of the features on the inside.

I just put it in and it runs beautifully. I didn't have to re install windows, it posted the first time i powered it up and went right into windows, yay!

It has ALOT more memory options and voltage options etc. in the bios, i haven't tried a whole lot with it yet, but the first thing i plan on trying is the 1T issue.

Anybody else with one feel free to drop a comment in here. Maybe we can make this the "Official A8N SLI Premium Thread"

thanks

Are you referring to the timing issue that occurs when populating all 4 memory slots (having to lower the Command Rate to 2T)?

no. I'm referring to the 1t timing issue on the a8n sli deluxe where you couldn't run anything at 1t, at least i didn't see anybody run anything at 1t. You had to run it at 2t no matter how many slots you did or didn't have taken up

Oh, I didn't know that was an issue. I had just heard the board didn't OC very well. In Wesley Fink's review here on anandtech, "nForce4 SLI Roundup: Painful and Rewarding", he apparenty was able to get a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe board to reach 1T. Here's what he wrote:

"The Asus SLI was completely stable with 2 DDR modules in Dual-Channel at the settings of 2-2-2-7 at default voltage. This matches the best timings that all of the SLI motherboards in this roundup were able to achieve.

Filling all four available memory slots is more strenuous on the memory subsystem than testing 2 DDR modules on a motherboard.

The Asus K8N-SLI was completely stable at 2-2-2-7 memory timings. We did have to lower the Command Rate to 2T, but this is a function of the on-chip Athlon 64 memory controller. It is rumored that upcoming Rev. E chips will have an updated memory controller capable of driving 4 DIMMs at 1T command rate, which would definitely improve memory performance when running 4 DIMMs."

Nonetheless, glad you now have something that works for you. I'm going to get a PREMIUM myself.

i thought the 1t issue was that once it hit a certain HTT it would need to go to 2t?

Yeah, Rise, you are correct, the A8N-SLI allows 1T up until you reach 250MHz, then you have to set it to 2T.

I got mine too this afternoon. And after I changed the dfi nf4 sli-dr with it, the pci
problem which bothered me all these days disappeared. So obviously it's a motherboard problem. Now i use sli with no problem at all. Some people are really laughable when they said I didn't know how to configure sli and recommended me to buy a DELL. LOL

looks like a sweet board either way.

Too bad Asus did not use the C-Media CMI8768+ sound chip. That would give the board Dolby Digital Live - and be comparable to Intel's HD sound found on their newer chipsets.

So, is it still based on the ALC850? Man, that sucks! (In a way...)

I placed my order late last night and it should be shipped out today (Thur) and I am hoping to get it on Monday.
