Got my 980 AMP Extreme Edition. An Issue

Hi, I got my 980 AMP Extreme yesterday and I connected it. I connected using the 6 pin + 2 pin = 8 pin. I connected using 2x 8 pin connectors. I did that correct right ?
But today morning, when I started the PC by using the power button on the case, there was no display . I had to hold down the power button to make the pc off and then press the power button to turn it on again and this time I got the display. Everything went smooth.
My query is why there was no display at the first time and I used the right connectors right ?
Btw, I have Cooler Master 700 G PSU.

Any help would be great.

Also maybe try to fresh install the drivers again. Don't use the ones in the cd go to nvidia.com and get the latest ones.
