Got my 9700 - How to check Core / Memory Clock?

Lars

I got my OEM 9700 video card (non-pro) and would like to check if I actually got the right card. When I use any of the tweak software like Rage 3D Tweak or Radeonator I cannot change the core and memory speed (looks like the card is locked?) and it does not even show me the default clock settings of my card. All I found out so far is that this card is from the 9500/9700 series.

How can I se my current core/memory clock speed and how can I unlock the card (if that is possible)?

Thanks!

As far as I know you need to flash the BIOS to be able to overclock the card.

How? With what?

Sorry, I never flashed a video card, just motherboards.

Lars, please report back your experiences if it's not too much trouble. Thanx.🙂

Well, so far I found this thread over at rage3d. It has all the information I need but I cannot download the fixed bios because "this page has exceeded its bandwidth for this month". Also, I already downloaded the flash utility from here.
Will post how it worked out as soon as I find the new bios somewhere.

Ok, I changed the bios of the video card and was now able to see the clock settings.

Core was 276.8, Memory was 270.0. I changed it to 308.3 (Core) and 299.3 (Memory) for now since I don't have much time for testing today.

Cool! I think I may try something like this. Thanx again!🙂

Just played GTA3 for a while at 326.3 Core / 310.5 Memory, same clock settings like the 9700 Pro.

I am more than happy since this card was only $235. 🙂
