Okay friday it got here, but was at gfs all weekend so i just now installed it.
Okay first thing about installing this thing... it isn't that hard. Alot of people kept asking lately, I don't think its any HARDER to do than any other heatsink, acutally i'd say it is easier, but it takes longer.
Theres nothing to do that actually takes thinking or whatever, you just look at the picture and put it together. It takes a bit but who really cares you have to do it once everytime you get a new cpu.
Some of the older clips heatsinks came wiht were ALOT harder, tring to get it to bend down over those little clips and your thumb starts hurting alot and crap like that..... nothing like that wiht the 8045.
Alot of poeple were asking if you can take the heatsink off once the mobo is installed... you might be able to depending on how much you tightened some stuff. The 4 holes in the mobo each get a mobostandoff type screw and a nut on the other side. If you don't tighten it enough when you try to unscrew the heatsink the mobo/nut combo just spins around. If you tighten that enough the first time when you'll be able to take the heatsink off without unmountin the mobo i think.
The one thing i couldn't f*cking figure out was how the hell you were supposed to install the fan. You know on a fan theres 4 holes on the top nad 4 on the bottom... with the pal6035 the fan screws would go though both the top and bottom hole.. on teh 8045 they don't go though the top hole... they arn't long enough, your supposed to just use the bottom hole.
okay thats good because then it doesn't matter how tall the fan is.. 20mm or 25 or 38 o rwhaterver. BUT how the F*CK are you supposed to put the screws in and screw them down without breaking the top holes off? I don't kno what you're supposed to do, i just suck a screwdriver in the top hole and bent it until it snapped off... /me shurgs. gay setup imo tho.
Bout performance....
I had a pal6035+sunnon fan specs were
- Model KD1206PTB1-V
- 23.5 CFM
- 33.5 dba
First I get put the heatsink and stuff and put a "Nidec Beta V" temp controlled fan on it.. plug it in and all and turn system on and go to bios.
I watch the cpu temp... keeps rising, gets to ~50C and i'm like WTF and i touch the heatsink and its way hot. I look at the fan and its spinning fine. I'm tring to tell how much this gay a*s fan pushes but can't tell. I unplug any fans near it and its pushin like 10cfm... i coudln't hear it or anything but i dunno wtf this fans problem was. I seriously couldn't tell if any air was comming out (i had hte fan blowin out) i put a scrap of paper oveer the heatsink and the fan could barely push it away... then i turned the computer off and thew that pos fan out... i have no dea wtf its problem was. I looked it up on nidec's page and its supposed to be 40cfm and 50dba at its highest speed... whatever.
Anyways then i put on a 80mm "evercool" fan, dunno who the hell makes it or where the hell it came from it just says "low noise" and stuff on it and I'd say it pushes ~30cfm and right now mobo/cpu temp is 28/45... 900mhz 1.9v I used to idle ~49 or so with a louder fan. This is all on a asus a7v133a so it reads temps kinda higher than most.
Once I get a better 80mm fan that I know the specs of and stuff i'll redo the AS on the cpu... I don't think i did a good job but i'm too lazy to redo it all right now, got midterms to study for.
Room temp is normlay cooler... but my cpu is already running 4C cooler, maybe 5/6 if it wasn't so hot in here and i redid the articsilver... and no noise was added, its quieter if anything.
