Got most of my home theater in a new small apartment

....certainly isn't perfect, but given we're just renting this place for a year during our house hunting in a new city, I'm fairly happy with the outcome.

My fiance' and I moved in together a few weeks back.... we came from a house where I had a 600 sq. ft room just for my theater setup to an apartment that is only 900 sq ft. (joys of living downtown I guess). I didn't want to lose having my projector and HTPC/gaming PC in the same area where ps3, htpc, and cable could all switch between the two displays.... it was tricky and again, isn't ideal, but will work for the next 10 months and I only had to be two holes in the wall!

looking nice. if you can i'd put some type of black velvet sheet or something over the top of that white cabinet, as well as over that ductwork if possible.

does it reflect a lot how it currently is?

From the couch you really don't see it reflect at all due to the curve of the vent pipe... at least from the couch's POV. Same with the white surface, you're not really above it from the couch's sitting position.

The mrs. did put some sort of decoritive fabric something or another on top of it, but I don't see a big difference.

The only big problem is we don't have window coverings for the top piece of the windows, so controlling the light until the sun is right above (noonish) is tough, but after noon as it heads west in the sky, it darkens up a lot.

My only requirements of our house hunt that is going on are:
Large basement space for theater
2+ car garage
commute < 30 mins.

Receiver - Pioneer VSX- 820 K
Front speakers - Sony SSF7000
Center - Boston (can't remember model off hand)
Bookshelf - Boston A 26
Sub - PSW10

Projector - Optoma HD20

Computer (HTPC / Gaming):
AMD FX8120 cpu / Gigabyte 970A Mobo / 16 gb hyperX ram / Sapphire 7970 GPU / 800w PSU / LG dvd drive / LG bluray drive / 2 tb internal hd / 256 gb SSD / 2- 2 TB external drive (holds my movies) /

PS3, Wii, and comcast box also hooked up .... all sources have HDMI splitters so they can all go between the projector and the computer screen (40" Samsung)
....and I since the condo wouldn't allow for directTV, I had my service moved to my mother's house and can slingbox my programming from there to the new condo (NFL sunday Ticket was the motivation for that)

Here is a shot watching while fairly dark - not too much reflection from the HVAC pipe (just a little blue above)

BTW - GO 9ers!

Nice looking set up, just don't turn it on unless you want to get evicted for loud music/movies....joys of living in an apartment.

Um, that big vent. Any chance of leaking liquid?
It is for HVAC, just warm/cool air moving through it.

just don't turn it on unless you want to get evicted for loud music/movies....joys of living in an apartment.
I've talked to the neighbor that shares the wall with the speakers/sub and said, if it is ever too loud just call, come over, bang the wall, whatever and I'll fix it, he is a pretty cool guy, so far no problems..... if I ever watch anything fairly late at night I make sure the sub is down quite low.

... hopefully we'll be in a detached home be the end of the lease, this place was more of a stepping stone while we get settled in the new city.

Is that a DIY or commercial screen?
Mine was commercial. A local home-theater installer was closing up shop for residential and only doing commercial systems, since I had gotten them some business they called me to let me scavenge their leftovers.

I got 110" fixed frame screen, 2 - 50 ft. hdmis, 2 - 40ft. DVIs, ceiling mount for my Hd20, and a harmony one remote from them for $300

good deal as commercial screens are high
