Got it with 60K on the odometer. And 300mi on the new engine and 5 speed tranny. :) Gotta get this dyno'd and to the track. Look at the shaker scoop and guess what's under the hood.

EDIT: The one on the left is the new one.

EDIT: pics back up.

Even though I despise Fords, any old American iron is the big shiznit in my book, nice find :)

Just think how good you'd feel about yourself if you gave that car to me...

Extremely nice, I bought one that was half way restored (engine was done, the interior needed work) in grade 10, I thought I would have the interior done by grade 12, but no, I ended up selling it the summer of grade 11 to 12, I wish I still had it :( AMAZING CAR THOUGH

Ooooh, better buy stock in a oil company ;)

Nothing like cubes under the hood to get your blood boiling.

The guy who sold this to me said it made 780HP on an engine dyno. I haven't REALLY put my foot in it since i've gotten it. But i've gotten the nose of the ground, once. Didn't wanna do that again unless i'm at the track. :D

WHOA HORSIE!
Nice pony, how much did it run up to?

def. not 72 btw... the back is not flat :)

Take that with a huge grain of salt unless it is a full blown race engine.

Remember that Dyno figures are subjective and depend greatly on the dyno operator and the variables that he types into the PC.

Pic's weren't taken in June. they were taken in Mar. at the sellers house (Ill.). I haven't taken any current pics of it, since my A60 shat on me.

Yeah. I know better than to belive the guy SELLING the car. People will make up anything to make a sale. If I had to "guess" I would guess 600-620 at the wheels. I know it CAN run on 110 octane with a minor adjustment to the distributor.

Tidbit on the 427:

The FE engines are the 390/427/428 engines and are different from all other Ford engines. The 390 is set up basically the same as other engines but nothing interchanges with them. The 427 engines are overhead cam and are extremely powerful sincewise they were used in AC Cobra's. In '64 a 427 could be ordered over the counter and had 625 HP stock. The 428 isn't much different but is not overhead cam.

Those numbers are gross horsepower ratings that were used in the 60's and early 70's, to achieve a net horsepower rating today, subtract a minimum 25% of the gross number.

Regardless of the ratings, that is going to be a tire smoking monster.

That tidbit is a little incorrect.

The are five different versions of the 427 FE engine, Low riser, most common, Mid-riser, High-Riser, & Tunnel Port, aftermarket race engine not installed in any factory cars. Then there is the engine your tidbit mentions, the 427 SOHC engine. This engine did produce 625 HP over the counter. It was only installed in a limited number of T-birds & Comets for drag racing. If you truly have a SOHC 427 in that car you should be very happy, since the engine alone could go you over $5000.00.

Another note the 427 was used in more cars than just the AC Cobra. It was also offered in the Mustang, Fairlane, Galaxie 500 XL, Thunderbird, Cougar, & Comet, if I remember correctly.

It looks to be a very nice car. One of the better 69s I have seen in a while. What kind of 5-speed does it has, If you don't mind me asking?
