Take that with a huge grain of salt unless it is a full blown race engine.
Yeah. I know better than to belive the guy SELLING the car. People will make up anything to make a sale. If I had to "guess" I would guess 600-620 at the wheels. I know it CAN run on 110 octane with a minor adjustment to the distributor.
Tidbit on the 427:
The FE engines are the 390/427/428 engines and are different from all other Ford engines. The 390 is set up basically the same as other engines but nothing interchanges with them. The 427 engines are overhead cam and are extremely powerful sincewise they were used in AC Cobra's. In '64 a 427 could be ordered over the counter and had 625 HP stock. The 428 isn't much different but is not overhead cam.
That tidbit is a little incorrect.
The are five different versions of the 427 FE engine, Low riser, most common, Mid-riser, High-Riser, & Tunnel Port, aftermarket race engine not installed in any factory cars. Then there is the engine your tidbit mentions, the 427 SOHC engine. This engine did produce 625 HP over the counter. It was only installed in a limited number of T-birds & Comets for drag racing. If you truly have a SOHC 427 in that car you should be very happy, since the engine alone could go you over $5000.00.
Another note the 427 was used in more cars than just the AC Cobra. It was also offered in the Mustang, Fairlane, Galaxie 500 XL, Thunderbird, Cougar, & Comet, if I remember correctly.
It looks to be a very nice car. One of the better 69s I have seen in a while. What kind of 5-speed does it has, If you don't mind me asking?
