Got Math? i need some more help!

Yup! back again for more step by step pointers! Help!

here are the samples I am working on, allot of inequalities and dependents, etc.

Solve each system by the substitution method. Determine whether the equations are independent, dependent or inconsistent.
Y = 2x ? 5
Y + 1 = 2 (x ? 2)

Write a system of two equations in two unknowns for each problem. Solve each system by substitution.
Perimeter of a rectangle. The length of a rectangular swimming pool is 15 feet longer than the width. If the perimeter is 82 feet, then what are the length and width?

Solve each system by the addition method. Determine whether the equations are independent, dependent or inconsistent.
1. X ? y = 3
-6x + 6y = 17

2. 2x ? y = 5
2x + y = 5
3. -3x + 2y = 8
3x + 2y = 8

graph each inequality. Use the test point method
1. 2x ? 3y < 6

graph each system of inequalities
1. y < - x

a lot of people ask for "help" on homework problems that they just don't want to do.

I'd also be curious as to how old you were and what class this is needed for.

really you should try to do as much as you can and post what you have got so far so we know you at least tried

That just shows immaturity, the last comment...
Those are probably junior high algebra.

go ask a classmate, those are better helpers than the internet, most of the time

WOW! I was unsure of how hard it is for people to be helpful...now I am sure.
I am not asking for answers to a life test, the theory of relativity, or how to splice genes. It is simple math and I know it.

I suck at Math, it doesnt matter how old or young I am, it isnt my thing. i am asking for someone to be kind enough to show me the way....

since i'm such a nice person i'll do one for you 😛

substituion means isolating one variable in one equation eg Y = blah blah then substituting every Y in the other equation with the equivalent of that variable

in this particular example, Y has already been isolated for you in the first equation, so just replace every Y in the second equation with 2x - 5

so you get
(2x-5) + 1 = 2(x-2)
2x - 4 = 2x - 4
0 = 0

what does this mean? that means the second equation does not give any further restrictions of values of x and y, so as long as the values fit the first equation, it will work for the system.

if you look at the second equation eclosely, you can see that it really is the first equation:
Y + 1 = 2(x-2)
Y + 1 = 2x - 4
Y = 2x - 5

it's dependent

read this for explananation on dependence/inde[pendence/consistency:
